I probably will be in.
I did a trench scene for the last WW1 campaign. And I have built Takom's Whippet.
What about aircraft? I have a couple of Eduard biplanes I could pick from. If not, no big deal...I might pick up a Meng FT-17.
I have built the Meng FT-17 converted to a M1917. Fantastic model and some great camo opportunities.
I used the venerable RPM FT-17 for my trench dio. For that purpose, it was okay. I plan on retiring that one soon and replacing it with a Meng version.
Anyway, I see that aircraft are allowed in the original post so I'll probably go with either a Bristol F.2 or an Albatross DIII....maybe both if I have time.
Any start date settled on?

If it will help, I think I have some World War I figures I've been meaning to get into, so count me in as well.

Alex I'd love to see a Bristol F.2 being done!
One of my fav allied planes from that terrible war.
Sincerely

It looks like we have enough participants to apply for official status so I will do that. I will ask for the earliest possible start so some of us who wish can get something finished by Armictice Day. The campaign will go on longer, of course.

Glenn had a great idea for a ribbon with the barbed wire. I think a simplified version of the idea might work well in a small size. Perhaps just a single large curl of barbed wire against a contrasting background?

Barbed wire feels like a good idea.
The mud on the western front wouldn't work as image for a ribbon. Mud and barbed wire epitomizes the western front so
a barbed wire ribbon will be fine.

Here is a ribbon idea:
The bottom image is what the ribbon will look like on your page.
The brown is the reality of the war, the mud, the terror & the sacrifice. The blue is the hope to survive and that a better world might emerge at the end. The gold bars are for honor, duty to comrades and the higher ideals each soldier fought for. The wire separates everything, the obstacle that must be overcome and is emblematic of WW1.
What do you think?

Very nice!
Maybe just a little bit browner along the bottom edge?
Mud has many different colours and hues but my mental image of mud is a darker brown.
The gradient from the blue starts off just fine, I'd just like it a little steeper down to a darker brown

I agree with Robin. Looks great and I think a darker mud transition to the blue sky would be perfect.

OK guys, I'll revise the ribbon. it is a balancing act, we need to maintain contrast with the wire lest it disappear into the mud.
BTW, I did apply for official recognition and we are waiting for the OK from on high.

Lots of things disappeared in the Flanders mud, not just wire ... They even found a whole tank in there ....
I think the black wire will have enough contrast against a medium brown. Dark brown will NOT work in the small size of the ribbon.
Like the brown on this German M113 or possibly a fraction lighter:

We are officially a campaign now with the earliest start date they could give us, Dec. 1. Thanks John!
Here is another crack at the ribbon:
I hesitate to go any darker on the mud or raise it any higher lest the wire mush into the result. If this flies for most of you I'll upload it up to the official page.

So as this is my first campaign, I have a question. With a start date of Dec 1, does that mean I should not start my project until then?
Color me a bit confused.

Yup, wait to start your model on December 1. I had hopes of getting an early date so we could finish by 11/11 but it just wasn't possible. No big deal for many of us who have several project going at any one time.

Perfect as far as I'm concerned
The mud is quite muddy enough.

Any other opinions about the ribbon? I'm inclined to call it a done deal unless I hear some objections here.

I'm in! I'm thinking of either some piece of artillery or figures, I just have to decide.

Artillery was certainly very symbolic of the Great War. Both choices would be welcomed.

I see we have got enough enlistees to be an official campaign. I'm thinking of doing one of the classic tanks. I have both the Takom & a Tamiya kit of different marks. Choices, choices!

I've enlisted and will be adding a trench dio to the build, Western Front, probably in 1/16 scale.
