After my last post I went and grabbed a bottle I bought about two weeks ago.
first pic is dropping paint into a medicine bottle. 2nd pic is what remains after you run water through remaining paint in the screen.
I was going to do this to all bottles, but clearly it will be a waist of paint as to what is wasted on the sides of medicine bottle when pouring back in. So I guess I will strain as I pour into brush cup when painting.

Wooden side plates and final weathering to be done. Wheels are ready, and I'll attach them after weathering. Should be ready soon.

Chuck - Your Whippet came out very well. This new kit is a huge improvement over the old Emhar version and your build of it gets the most out of it. I love the dried mud spatters here & there, I can just imagine a shell throwing the mud in the pattern you have. The rust on the tracks is also very well done. I can imagine it sitting for a bit while being at an assembly point and seeing the rust appearing like magic. Great job!

Pasi - Your armored car is looking very well. I love the roundel on the side. I look forward to seeing it finished.

John - Your figures look pretty good to my eyes! You are correct, the skills only develop by practice and study. You are doing both and that is one of the purposes of these online group builds. Great work!

Kelly - How is your project coming along? You certainly made a good start.

How are we doing time wise? Is everyone going to complete on time? If you do need more time please ask for it & I'll see what the powers that be have to say.
Also, remember that pictures of your completed models MUST be posted to the campaign gallery. Posting them here is great but not enough to get the award.

Well I know I could use a few more days. Still plotting my paint scheme. I was going to go with the yellow and gray them. but the pics of the restored one looks so off to me. it seems like they took the tank to a Macco paint shop and didnt bother to tape off anything. It looks so weird to see everything glossy gray in suspension and also the tracks that way. Just wondering if it was ever that way during the war.

Thanks Paul, the roundel is the reason why I chose this paint scheme.
And the models done (on last possible date ):
Two more in gallery , and thanks for the campaign.
Hmm, it looks like it's 1.9. in gallery, but it's still 31.8. in Finland. Either way fun build.

Pasi - What a very nice job on your armored car. The rust n dust looks appropriate and I like the color which is much like that of the aircraft the RNAS flew. A very convincing build overall!

I have asked for another couple of weeks on this campaign. Kelly, will that give you enough time to complete?

Paul,
What time zone is the campaign on? I should have mine finished on 8-31 (barely) in the Pacific time zone (UTC-7) in the US. A couple of more days would allow a more professional job of weathering.
Just in case you ever wondered it is a REALLY bad idea to retrieve a wooden paint-stand from a cupboard above your workspace with a wet paint brush in one hand and your nearly finished model and an open jar of paint on the workspace. I also learned that resin models shatter instead just breaking off pieces and that hobby mats absorb a surprising amount of paint...

Finished the 155mm Howitzer Model of 1917 (Schneider) used by the American Expeditionary Forces in the Great War. I dropped my wooden model paint stand on it as I was starting the weathering. The resin shattered into 10 pieces. After I stopped cursing, I put the parts on the shelf for a couple of days assuming that a few of the parts would go into the spares box and rest into the trash. After a couple of days I tried fitting the resin jigsaw puzzle back together. I was able to fit all the pieces back together and fill the cracks and missing chips with CA. After a bit of file and sandpaper work, it looks acceptable. It certainly isn't going to win any prizes; but, it will go onto my display shelf instead of the bin.
Now its time for a good whiskey!

Paul, I have no clue why, its seems every time I go to try and find the place to upload pics to I cant.
Anyone else having issue? I have checked the 2018 and 2019 campaign area and see nothing.

I followed the link in the 2nd or 3rd page of the thread. But I do see it in 2018 campaigns and titled "Great War". I know I was looking for the wrong title before.

Thanks so much. I was looking under wrong title.
I think I will changing the scheme on this one. I feel like I dropped the ball a lot.

Rick - It sounds like you had some fun & games here. Your field artillery piece came out very well despite it all, great work!

I have asked for an extension but not heard back yet so keep working until we get word one way or another.

It looks like everyone is done with this campaign? If so we'll get it wrapped up & the ribbon awarded.

Thanks for the campaign, Paul. It was my first in completing a WWI subject. Great entries throughout.
Cheers!
