You've done a splendid job with the Panther Shell, nice finish and another one complete, well done. What unit are those turret markings for ?

Meng claims it is from the Headquarters of 2nd Battalion, 5th Panzer Regiment, SS Panzer Division Wiking, during the summer of 1943.

I'm alive, and so is the Renault. Finally getting some bench time in, so I did the chain, and steel cable seen in the color plate I'm referencing.

Now it's just the tracks. They're all built, and weathering is about halfway done on them. Won't be long now

John - the middle one is really close to being done as of today. The other non grey one is also close. Going for a Normandy scheme for that one.

Oh she took her time. 3(?) years, I think. Finished up the tracks, mounted them, and glued the diver's doors in place. Calling it done.

Just need to upload to the gallery and I'll be all set. It's been fun boys. Now onto the 'got wheels' campaign with my brush painted camo nightmare.

James,
Your build looks great! Congratulation on completing that little beauty. I like the subtle weathering.

Thanks Don. I'm happy with how it turned out too, save for a couple mistakes. Already sitting proudly on my display shelves

Howdy Y'all
I'd like to use these little guys for my entry in this campaign.

I was building these Dragon 1/144 tank destroyers for the Tank Destroyer campaign. Let me know if this will work.

Very Nice indeed James. Great to see it stagger over the completion line.... The 3 years was worth the wait.

A little outside the rules being painted Don, but the whole point of this build is to encourage people to build. Also, given there is a batch of them and the amount of work required to finish them all is about the same as if you had a single eligible entry I am more than happy to welcome you aboard.

Can't wait to see the horde finished.

Was wondering if I could join this campaign. 2nd post here on the forum. I've got an M1a1 Abrams that's been setting for over 10 years. I don't have a picture with a phone marking the date but I do have this picture from the beggining of August showing the date. Let me know if this is sufficient for campaign entry.

Thanks,
Brian

My magnifying glass says it looks fine for the build Brian!

Rules are any stage in the build up to full coat of paint having been applied (e.g. must not be needing just decals and/or weathering). So welcome aboard and welcome to the Forums:

Tip #1- when you copy the link to your photos in the gallery the way you did, you need to remove the '/thumbs' from the url link so it shows the full size pic.

With all that string of text you used, basically all you really need to use is the part of the link from [i m g ] to [ / i m g] (but without the spaces I added as I added them to allow the text to be seen here). Without the '/thumbs', that then looks like this:

[ i m g]h t t ps://photos. kitmaker. net/data/32188/M1A1_August_2020_full.j p g[/ i m g]

Then you get a pic this size:

Tip #2 - You may run out of room in the site Gallery to store all your photos. deleting photos to make space is a right pain of a process... so most of us use this site's gallery for our finished group builds, but use a hosting site for all our other pics. I use a free hosting site Imgur. It is pretty easy to use, just push the 'New Post' button on the top left and follow your nose.

Thank you for allowing me in the campaign and for the tips on photos.

Let's try this... a couple of in progress pics. Let me know if you guys can see the pics as I'm hosting them on another forum.

Thank you!! This will be the 1st model completed in in decades and the 1st I've actually painted.

There's definitely some goofs on it but I'm pretty happy with how it's coming together.

It is a bit like riding a bike again Brian. A bit wobbly at first, not as quick as you used to be, a bit heavier on the gear change, but eventually keeping the momentum going will make sure you don't crash.

First time the friul tracks. At first kinda dreaded it. But half way thru I am having fun doing it. Took about five hours to do one side. I am drilling out every hole and have already gone thru two bits. Using staples for pins. So yeah, there is the fun of separating every staple and straightening each one. still waiting on my metal aging wash. only thing is wondering which Tiger I will put these on.

Hi Kelly

When I do Fruil tracks, I usually insert the wire (staple in your case) then withdraw it slightly and clip off the excess. Then push the wire all the way in. It is a lot easier than trimming and having to file down the nubs left over.

Peter- so far this is working great. Staples are mostly in the holding position. I started putting some in the final position but will wait to see how the fit is before setting the rest. I am finding that after I trim the staple flush to the track, being that the staples is much more rigid than the wire supplied and because it has a sharp end, you can push the staple into the metal of the track to set it even deeper.

Hobby Lobby and other web sites will have .015 and .020 brass rod for your track pins needs. Brass provides a very steady/sturdy medium and then cuts pretty flush.

john, I agree with the size needed at least when doing a King Tiger or a Tiger. However for when what I have have found is that with the staples you have a consistent length, and when I use the wire, what happens is you might have the wire only go three loops and not four and maybe get a slight pull away. I know we are not putting any force on the tracks. But when you start getting a good length and your moving it around a lot there might be a chance at it being weaker and the metal is already so soft. I did get some music wire from Hobby Lobby just to try. Either way, the wire that comes with is way to soft and just causes headaches.
