This is tough -- in the US (Army) "Recovery" means Ordnance items and "Engineer" means Engineer items -- kinda apples & oranges because there is no common theme/ownership/branches, etc. I gather this may be different in other countries

Recovery involves recovery & evacuation -- the acts of pulling, towing, lifting, hauling, etc.

Engineer involves horizontal or vertical construction or "destruction" -- digging, scraping, plowing, hauling, building, leveling, crushing, etc. Not to forget the various combat engineer tasks ....

Somewhere in there is a hint of an idea, but I'll be darned if I can see it.

How about "In the Mud" -- a variation on "Mud Movers" suggested by Sabot (Rog G) -- which kinda reflects a common place you would find both Engr & Recv operations.

Very good point and information on that. If none of ours is agreed and decided on, then we could bite Ampersand Publishing's book title and just switch around the order of the words.

One thing, the campaign says the scale is 1:72... I thought it would be 1:35? Or is it just an error on that page?

How about - "You bend 'em, we mend 'em"? Or "The wrecking crew"? "Unsung heros"?

Just a thought. I am tempted to build a Centaur dozer using the AA conversion. Just thinking abiut it at the moment though.

How about "Mud, Sweat & Gears" for a theme name?

I have a couple of projects that I have wanted to get started on and with winter starting in a few days I'll have the time. If I can get all my supplies in before the glaciers close in and the icebreakers get frozen in port.

Who gets the list of vehicles to be entered and the event closes in May 3005? Do they need to be in a diorama or static?

I have a 1946 German recovery vehicle I have been tinkering with, maybe I'll give it a go.

Howdy fellas,

Just throwing my Farthing's worth in here, but.....I am also curious as to the disposition of this proposed Campaign. I've been yakking lately about building an M8A1 'Cargo' style recovery vehicle based (I think??) on an extended version of the M41 tank hull (you can all stampede in here and sternly correct me now......) and I would be grateful for the opportunity to enter it in a "Recovery / Engineering Vehicle" Campaign if there ever was such a thing.
I do believe that at least a handful of other members are going to join in on this M8A1 build up (kind of a common insanity), so that would add at least a small amount of 'greasy hand' buggers to the roster if the other's also desired to add their efforts to the mix.

Please let me know , because I'll be building the M8A1 irregardless, but would be proud to add your Campaign to my list of reasons to build the bloody thing!
Your proposed timeframe (first post) also sounds easily acheivable as well...............so please update this, and let me know, either by posting here, or by PM.......many thx.

Tread.

Being somewhat mired in WW2, but US Ordnance familiar, the M8 threw me. Best I could come up with as a reference is "Searching for Perfection" where I finally found (pg.60) the "Tractor, Cargo, T42" which appears to be the parent/prototype - if an M41 derivative, it has an extra road wheel & little resemblance thereafter -- the book only says that it was a "buick design circa 1945".

From there I looked some more & found (pg.19)the "Wrecker, Full Track, High Speed, T4" which was based on the T42E1. There was also a T4E1 which evidently was basis for production (but it doesn't really say if it actually made it, etc).

Seems like it would fit the Campaign, but I'm not in charge ......

Man, the lone pic I have shows a mess of cable & boom & stuff all over the place. Where ever did you dig this up & where did you find enough reference mat'l to start with ????

You mentioned that some guys might get together & "group build" this -- need any help ??

Howdy jRatz,

I am impressed by your research efforts. If you are indeed referring to the M8A1, I will point you at this thread:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/37051&page=1

It both describes (basically) the vehicle itself, and touches on the discussions involving building the Bluetank/ Nitto kit of the beastie.

from 'Roo
"...hmmm how do you know his leg is hairy Tread..."

He's a Postman, he wears those cute blue shorts with the stripe down the side doesn't he?...
Word on the street in Jersey is, he turns all those surburban housewives heads....
