Hey guys and girls!
Seeing that there are 25 participants I was just wondering how the rest of the members are doing?
Anyway, here's my entry for the Panzer!! Campaign. Still a bit wet paint on it...
It's a early Tiger 1, Russian Front, that have got a partial upgrade in a hasty frontline workshop. It got some mid-production additions like the Zimmerit and the new roadwheels.
Because the Tiger had to roar out of the workshop in a hurry to do some serious T-34 beating, the turret's commanders cupola was not changed and was the Feifel system disabled but stayed in place.
In the Early Tiger Late War forum we discussed this kind of 'mish mash' Tigers and there were even some pictures posted of a steel wheeled Tiger (with Zimmerit applied) but had a Early Tiger turret mounted on a late chassis. In love and war...
Comments welcome!
Paul

Thanks TOKE,
The Zimmerit was an old resin set from Verlinden (discontinued now).
In the corners, between the resin panels the pattern there was some putty added an the pattern was followed using a little toothstick.
Sprayed in Dark Yellow, whitewashed, shadowed with oil paint (raw umber) and drybrushed with oil paint.
This is how it looks without paint (hull allready sprayed black). As you can see, the Feifel tubes were still in place here. I removed them later.

Your Tiger looks good!
Not to be a wet blanket but I think the leader (Spiderman) in this campaign bailed. There's no news on this campaign, no updates and seeing that it ends tomorrow, there's again NO news from the leader.
What's going on?

Well at least the campaign has 1 entry
You can be proud Paul, the zimmerit, the winter camouflage....looks all very good.
One thing you could do is to add some more texture to the mud on the wheels and tracks. Looks now like you've painted them in (a very good) mud colour, but mud is thick stuff and it will stick to the wheels and tracks.
You can do this in various ways....white glue + sand/earth, pastels which are applied wet, even plaster is an option!
Btw, which kit is this?

Ohoh.. A bailed out Campaign Leader....
Hmmm, no ribbons than? :-)
Alan, the campaign is in the list, between the "Garry's Tank Destroyers" and "Spahwagen Abteilung!" campaigns...
Martin, there are 2 entries this far: Trucker and me.
This is Truckers model.
Good idea; I think I do what yo say and add some texture in the mud, perhaps some chalk or soil and whiteglue.
It's the Tamiya kit, or actually, most is the Tamiya Tiger 1 Early. It was an incomplete kit, so I snatched parts from the sparepartboxes of other modellers to get all the hatches, headlights, wheels etc together :-)
The resin Zimmerit parts are from Verlinden. They formed the whole turret, only the top and storagebox was from the box. So, the kit was a mish-mash also :-)

Eric, that's right... there is none...
Just place them here in this forum, since I noticed our campaignleader seemed to leave us alone that's perhaps the best thing to do.
Graham, that's a real beauty! Very impressive!
I like that missing sideskirt and the rear deck is very good (specially the grates).
You said you have some real mud used for weathering? That turn out nicely. Just curious; how did you apply it on the vehicle?
So, with Eric and Graham, there are 4 entries.
4 beer so far

Just took some ordinary mud from the garden, got rid of any stones etc out of it, and mixed with white glue (Evo Stik wood glue here in the UK). Then pasted it on with a brush to the lower hull before I put the roadwheels on.
Looking at the photos I think I should have also added some to the wheels and tracks, a lesson learned for next time.

Looks very nice, good model. One thing you could perhaps consider is an oil-based wash to bring out some of the recessed details - however that may just be down to the lighting in the photo.
As I said, very nice looking Panzer!

Does the campaign still actually exist?
Last time I looked it was no longer in the campaigns list... That would be a shame now that we've got (IMO) a few nice looking entries

Graham,
The campaign ended today, so it's closed by now.
It's mentioned under Armor/AFV - Past Campaigns...
Follow this link.
I posted a PM to a staff member to ask what we must do since our campaignleader is vanished...
I also asked for ribbons to give out, but that's on the staff to decide...
Well, at least 5 beautyfull panzers were build!
Perhaps further on this day some other member entries follow...
So, if nothing happens much further, this seem to be the end of this campaign

Here is my entry, E100, the last Panzer. The second pic shows the size difference between a super heavy tank and a light tank, a Panzer II.
The campaign ends today, but i'm not sure of the rules regarding when it actually ends, i.e 11.59 p.m 07/06/05 . It was a fun campaign anyway.

Andy,
It's allright. As far as I concern you posted your entry on time. As far as we all know by now our campaign leader is gone... (see next post)
It's a big, mean beast you built there!!!
Great muzzle break on the barrel and very nice colorscheme. Beautifull paintjob!
I like the comparisment with the small panzer!

I'm with you - it's still the 7th until midnight! Like the paint job and decals on the E100, the decals look very flat. Are they transfers or stencilled on?
Although it does make the Panzer II look puny, I was surprised the size difference didn't appear to be even greater
