Well gents we've had the go ahead!Jeremy has kindly allowed us to move the start date to March 1st. My reasoning behind the change was to give people a bit of time to think about what they wanted to build and to get the neccessary kits in so they get a full 6 months on the build.
As the campaign description shows anything goes Special Forces wide. This allows anything from British Paras through to German Brandenburgers. Vehicles are encouraged whether it be specific special forces vehicles eg.LRDG/SAS in the desert to abandoned bad guys vehicles. Piles of Ops to be covered within the scope and all theatres of war. If you're unsure what qualifies then just ask. I can only say yes or no :-) . I've not decided what to do myself yet. I need to look in the stash. Good luck gents!

Richard, they'd be fine. Fallschirmjager are airborne troops so classed as special forces. Even glider troops qualify as they have specialist training for an airborne role.

Im in as well. Have tamiya´s old SAS jeep for some parts, the new willys for the main build, eduard PE and legends resin set. Verlinden figures as well!. Always wanted an excuse to build this!
Your reasoning is sound Karl :-) Eventhough I know what Im building and have all the necessary parts, its great to get some other things outo f the way first!! Im sure im not the only one who has to clear the workbench first!

I think I am going to make British "Red Devils" using the DML figure set. I am planning to show them next to an abandoned Wespe.
Maybe from Operation Market Garden. However, I do not know if there were any Wespes close to the Red Devils.

karl, you say that marine figure cannot be built...you say that they're not specialist troops. Well in the pacific, Marine RECON troops were created. which were almost the same as the navy Seals.Which are special Forces.
And Marine RECON units are still operating up until today.....

Chris, I've done a bit of reading this afternoon and sadly they don't fit the criteria. In WW2 they were basic marines used for recconaissance, pretty much the same as recce platoons in infantry battalions. Force Recon didn't come about till the 1950's. While I realise that Force Recon now are specialists ie para qualified etc they weren't then. If you were to use the figures for something like Merrills Marauders then that would be fine. They were an all volunteer unit for Long Range Recconaissance/ Harassment of the Japs behind their lines so they fit the criteria as they were on a par with US Rangers. Hope that's of some help and a way around it.

Yeah thats not a problem at all Chris. The uniforms are fairly generic anyway so it shouldn't be much of a problem for you. Sorry if it seems a bit pedantic.

Had a good think and I'm going for 101st Airborne on Op Market Garden as I've found a couple of boxes of US Paratroopers in my magic cupboard :-) . Not sure what the dio will look like yet as I'm just at the research phase but it will not be one of my massive jobs...LOL..I have no room now!

Yeah, it's my first campaign too, and will involve my first dio, so I'm gonna keep it simple!
May I recommend Dragon's US Airborne Normandy 1944 set - it's excellent value for money, esp the 60th Anniversary one, and it's really easy to create tons of different poses.
As for the wings, I made a few jumps an... :-)
I think it was when I reached 250 Network posts.

Don't get to used to the wings, you'll lose them again at 350, get them back at 500, and lose them permanently at 750.
