Distraction: Greta's Revenge

Finishing Touches

The finishing touches in this dio were nothing more then sanding the edges of the ground plate, walls, and sticking out floor parts. After the sanding was finished I gave all the parts that were sanded a layer of wall spackle that was painted German grey once it was dry.

The snipers blanket was made of aluminum foil painted white and dry brushed with khaki and a little bit black. Folded over the sniper and glued to the ground with white glue pushed with a q-tip to the ground to get the leveling in the ground correct.

The Final Cost List

Sniper:

I talked this over with Keith because my Sniper is completely scratch built and I had no idea what to show for it. So Keith and I agreed to raise 25ct. for every part that came from the scratchbox I thought this was fair.

-Modeling Clay from the DAS brand "donated by" my little sister : 0.00ct
-The Sniper gun came from the scrapbox : 0.25ct
-The right(shooting) hand from the scrapbox: 0.25ct
-the complete leftarm came from the scrapbox: 0.25ct
-The head with helmet out of the scrapbox: 0.25ct
-The boots from the scrapbox: 0.25
-The shovel and the cannister (I believe): 0.25ct

Total Scratchbuilt Sniper: $1.50

The building and sidewalk:

-Foam used for the building and sidewalk I got it from my father out of the hospital: 0.00ct
-Windowframe was made out of a couple of ice-lolly sticks which I had laying around: 0.00ct
-Miliputt which I had laying around for a long time: Oh heck I raise 0.25ct for that then my building got any value within
-one tube of wall spackle/plaster/ (plamuur in dutch) "donated by" my fathers work shed: 0:00ct
-The road with drainage sculpted out of the same foam where everything except the figure is sculpted out 0.00 ct.
-The rubble piles against the sides of the building are made out of foam and then covered with a layer of miliputt I’ll raise 0.25ct. for that
-balsawood for the floor: “donated by” my fathers work shed: 0:00ct.

Total scratch built houseruin: $0.50

Greta (my mannequin):

-sculpted out of the same foam as everything else 0.00ct
-German Helmet out of the scrapbox 0.25ct
-Tarp/cloth around her: Toilet paper “donated by” the toilet...... duh 0.00ct
-The gun Greta carries came from the scrapbox 0.25ct

Total costs greta $0.50

Others:

-Propaganda posters and the picture of Lenin printed on one piece of paper 0.03ct.
-Wallpaper printed on another piece of paper 0.03ct.
-burlap for the barrel of the gun. My mothers kitchen “donated” a teabag: 0.00ct.
-blanket for the Sniper Aluminum foil “donated by” my mothers kitchen 0.00ct
-window remains our shower at home “donated” a empty box of Q tips and I bashed it 0.00ct

Total others $0.06

Overall cost: $2.56 (this will be almost the same price in Euro`s I believe)

Thanks To...

Ok the dio is finished and I’m quite satisfied with the result. I want to thank Keith to come up with this contest. To get me started again and to actually finish something. That’s something that hasn’t happened to me in the last 1.5 years. I also want to thank everybody who helped me with the questions I had during this campaign. I also want to thank everybody who gave feedback during the updates that I did every day. Some very useful ideas came out of that.

Thanks to Jim for making an apart folder for the contest. Thanks to all the other participants in the first contest to make these two months one of the coolest two months here on the internet. And nothing matters anymore I look interested to the outcome of the campaign/contest and I wear my ribbon with pride.

A nice walk down memory lane. I remember this group build like it was last week. It was cool to read the last paragraph on how it was "the best 2 months on the internet" ... have to agree ... modelling was such a buzz at that time, for me as well. Nice one Robert.
