1⁄1First Try at Sculpting Urethane Foam
Next, I marked the base with three lines, one across the piece to remind me that wheel marks were to go no further forward and two parallel lines running perpendicular to the first, based on the track width of the Sahariana.
All it took to make the wheel tracks was the medium grit paper rolled over my fingers and dragged back along the base to the back edge. After I made two tracks of equal depth but before I had gone too far, I thankfully realized that if the vehicle was to sit level on the uneven base, I had better place the car in the tracks and determine under which wheels more material needed to be removed. Again, the sandpaper was more than enough to remove extra foam where necessary and with some on and off test-fitting with the Sahariana, I quickly had it sitting on all four tires. Another few light strokes with the paper along both channels with a wider roll of the sandpaper evened up the channels and widened them to the point I wanted.
At this point the carving and shaping was done and I moved on to finishing.
