Basic Construct of a wall - Hunter or Hunted...

In this diorama, I also need a small section of street. After researching, I decided to go with a basic brick street. The technique I used works equally as well for street bricks or cobble and wall bricks. The Durham's dried to that leather consistency, so I used my scale ruler and sculpting tool to first cut in the line across the street to establish the width of the bricks. The I went back over and cut in the brick pattern or length of each brick. At first, I recommend you measure it out or use a pre cut strip the desire width of your bricks to keep your line straight. After a few time you will get the size and design in your mind and you can just go for it. Also, do not worry if some of your bricks break away or chip. Once painted, those breaks and chips will add charter and give your street (or brick wall) a more natural look.

Once all the bricks are carved, spray over it all with a black paint... straight from a cheap old spray can. (Lot easier then cleaning my airbrush frankly). After this dries, I begin dry brushing first in grays, then up to pure white (1/2 inch brush and very lightly).

In this case I decide to add a little color by making red bricks. I dry brush on pure Burnt Sienna and dry brush for depth and detail. (OOPS, I see one I missed carved ... don't tell anyone)

To do a wall section of brick I follow the same procedure but only carve the brick were I have decide the plaster will be broken away. I accomplish this by taking blue painters tape, rip it into irregular shapes and cover most of the carved brick area, leaving the very edge of the bricks area exposed to be covered later. Now I smooth on a very thin coat of Durham like plaster and, after it dries little, I pull up the tape. This creates the peeled away plaster look, like with the building on my Marder II diorama.
