Just make sure its clear.

Do you mean make sure the model is in a setting where its clear its a HQ vehicle? Or just make sure that I state its an HQ vehicle?

Thx

Either in a setting that shows it is an HQ vehicle, or even a good picture that shows the HQ markings on it.

I have the T-55 kit from Tamiya. Originally, I was going to convert it into an IDF Tiran; but, this campaign will give me an excuse to build an Iraqi Enigma.

The Enigma has spaced armor on the lower hull and turret. It was issued to armored brigade commanders during the first Gulf War. I have included a picture of one that is at the Bovington Museum (I found it on the Internet, it is not my picture).

I will be using some PE and workable tracks. This will be the first time I have used them, so we'll see how it works out. I am still collecting parts and won't be able to start until they get here; but, I suspect that I should be able to get them by September.

I have not been modelling long and mainly stick with US ODS tanks and want to build some IDF tanks. Thanks for the opportunity to build something that I wouldn't have otherwise built.

William, Great entry. I didn't know it was issued to Brigade commanders. Actually I knew nothing really about this vehicle other than what it looked like until now. Learn something new every day.

Ok well I have gone out on a limb... I am going to build Lewis "Chesty" Puller's Jeep in Korea. It was with him, his driver, and body guard from Inchon to Chosin. It became an ambulance and mobile morgue at Chosin... along with every other combat vehicle there.

-Mike

PS: I am going to make it into a small dio as well. Should be fun! Good Luck All!

Well, there is not a lot of information of it. I have been able to gleen a little from various Internet sources; and there are a couple of books that are supposed to have some pictures if not some background. Once I find out if they are any good I will post them here.

I know that when I was in the Gulf as a TOW gunner, we were told that we might see some T55's with "extra armor." But we did not have any pictures or real description. We were told that it was similar to the ERA on our M60's but with bigger plates. Needless to say, I never actually saw any of these.

I am still doing some research and will post any good finds.

Wow, that will make a great dio. As a former Marine I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Anything that deals with Chesty is near and dear to our hearts....

Thanks! I join the ranks next year in May. I grew up on stories of Chesty and I have read nearly every work written about him so I hope I get it relatively alright... I have no pictures of it but in the biography 'Marine!' it describles the vehicle very well. I am thinking about doing it in 1/48, but that might be too small. I will probobly end up doing it in 1/35 (it helps that I already have the kits I need in that scale). This will give me practice for a second dio I plan to do for my Pacific campaign. I can't decide if I should do Iwo or Pelileu. I had family that served at and over both so I don't know what to do!

I have found some detailed pictures of a T-55 Enigma. It is a PDF net book that can be found here. I am still looking for some good information links and will post them when I find them.

Hope you will have time to give regular updates on that one. A very interesting vehicle that has eluded me so far - or I have resisted adding it to my stash.

Anyway, it will be interesting to follow your build.

Ok... does anyone know where to find a good kit for a Korean theatre jeep? I hunted through my LHS and did not find a thing! I am going to also need some figures in winter gear to either drive it or stand by it. I am going to use the Verlinden USMC heads and kit conversions as well. The big thing is the jeep though. I really need to grab one. I would like a good kit. The italeri Mutt I am building for Wheels and Tires is not very good, bad fits all around. Any help would be great!

I know that Academy makes an M151A1 that's pretty good if you're looking for 1/35. Here is a link to the kit at Squadron.

Well, I received the tracks for my T-55 Enigma. I am using the Tamiya T-55A as a base with a few aftermarket parts. For the tracks I am using Modelkasten workable tracks. I ordered the Verlinden armor kit (it is backordered), and the Eduard BigEd PE kit (it also includes an aluminum barrel).

I am looking forward to starting this project.

I hope that all of my parts are in soon.

Good luck. I am assuming that you are going to Parris Island. That is where I went; but it was during the winter (Dec thru Mar). Have fun in the sun and don't kill any sand fleas...

Hello All,

I'm new one here. I'm from Poland.
I have choosen T-55 Enigma which had been used by Iraq froces as the command tank.
It will be the ACE model (1/72 scale) with some self-made upgrades.

I hope that this model fit to C&C Campaign.

I have read some T-55 history and think the Enigma would fit in as used by the Iraqi's.

On another note, I apologize for my absence lately. Things have been hectic at work, and I will be moving to an apartment soon, but I will still be here. There may be moments where Im gone for a few days, but I will do my best to check in regularily and answer all questions.

Well, since it is a long weekend (happy Labor Day for the Americans) I am going to start on my T-55 Enigma. It won't be much, probably just cleaning the parts and reading through the instructions (and taking notes). I may start separating the suspension pieces and preping them for assembly.

Anyway it will be good to sit at the model table and spend some quality time with plastic.

Hi Ron,

You can post your "in progress" photos under this thread. The completed build photos will be gathered under the campaign folder in the kitmaker galleries.

Well, I am having trouble getting a hold of the Verlinden t-55 Upgrade Armor kit (Ver 1944). It appears to be out-of-stock everywhere. I am starting on the suspension of the kit, since that is uneffected by the upgrade; so, I am hoping that it becomes available soon.

If anybody knows where I can get the Verlinden kit (I don't want to pay for the Cromwell) I would appreciate a tip.

Thanks.
