Hi there,
I'm trying to find out which tractors/trucks that were used to tow this
20-ton low bed semi-trailer in WWII.
Scroll down a bit to "20-ton Low-bed Semi-trailer(Reference #PSP35041"
http://www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/Vehicles.html

Thanks in advance for help with this ;-)

Corbitt/White 666 truck. PSP also makes this.

I have the trailer and the Corbitt truck from them. I have dreams of making a very interesting cargoload --- ahhh but too many other projects ahead of this.

Heavy semitrailers were towed by 4-5 ton Truck Tractors such as the
Autocar U-7144T, White 444T, or Federal 94x43A,B,C.

The Autocar U-8144T was used for Semitrailers with pontoon material,
so Marcel, you have to shorten the chassis a bit.

Thanks to all!
If Scale_link eventually manages to get the production of PSP-kits
going again I'll get that trailer and one of these:

The lighter Autocar U-7144-T (4-5t) and Federal trucks are capable of hauling the 16t semitrailer but I doubt they are suitable for the 20t semitrailer that is mentioned here.

The U7144, had a max towed load of 20,000 lbs.
The White 444T had a max towed load of 30,000 lbs.
The Federal 94x43 had a max towed load of 30,000 lbs.
The U 8144 had a max towed load of 30,000 lbs.
The U5044 had a max towed load of 30,000 lbs
The Mack NJU-1 had a max towed load of 30,000 lbs.
The H-542-9 (M425 and M426) (Internation Harvester) had a max towed load of 30,000 Lbs.

Limits from David Doyle's book "Military Vehicles" These are just the 4-5T tractors.

The Federal model 94x43 was opperationally equivalent to the Autocar U-7144-T, even using many of the same major chassis components. The coachwork was completely different, though. The first Federal, the 94x43A was being based on the commercial products of the time, and had an enclosed cab. Later models the 94x43B and C were redesigned to incorporate an open cab.
When used by the signal corps, the 94x43 was refered to as the K-32. The signal corps used the Federals to pull van trailers, while the transportaion corps used them to for gerneal freight service. Federal built a total of 8,119 trucks of this type. Late in the war, Kenworth and Marmon-Herrington were established as producters as well.

I corrected the table above for the 444t, as it also was rated for 30,000, while the U7144T was 20,000 lbs. I'm a little more awake, and had my coffee.

2,000 lbs= 1 ton (US)
