What an amazing tank. You've done a really nice job on it. I'd hate to be on that crew - so many people, so little space.

Steve-O aka "Da Sushi Dude"

Another fine effort pal, on an interesting subject. Your usual tight quality build is evident again. Can't wait to see more.

Is this a straight out of the box build, or have you AM'd it?

Steve,

It's looking great! I am happy to see that you didn't quit when the going got rough. I just primed mine this weekend as well. You are doing yours in standard Russian green right? I decided to try my hand at whitewash on this beast. Hopefully, I will get some pictures up soon.

Guys,

Thanks for all your kind words.

Adam: Yup, I will do the Russian green and what a coincidence that I am thinking about doing the white wash too. By the way, do you know what is the Russian Green referring to Tamiya's paint?

I think that it is called "Dark Green", but I can't remember the number (XF-61 maybe).

:-) Steve, what a great looking piece of armour :-) looks more like a battleship than a tank How long did the Russians use this? Seems like one of those great ideas that probably had to many shortcomings?

This is going to be one awesome looking tank when you finish it. I have never seen one like this. I like the unusal looking stuff. And this one is great. Can't wait to see it painted and weathered.

Oh my god what an ugly piece of tank, the build is excellent, but the tank oh my god. I will never degrade myself to do such an odd subject. #:-)

Excellent build on an ugly tank. Sushi.

Holdfast,

The Russians started making these beasties in the early thirties and they used them during the opening stages of Barbarossa mostly in the defence of Moscow. They were pretty worthless as they were slow, thin skinned, and prone to technical breakdowns. According to one of my many books on the T-35 only about 10-15 of the 80 or so that they made were actually lost in combat. Most broke down on their way into combat. I bet these things were odd sites to the advancing German soldiers.

That is why it has the nickname "Land Battleship".

:-) Thanks Adam, maybe I'm more into armour than I though EEK.
Is this a rugular kit or a specialist manufacturer? Ark at me getting interested :-) seriously though it looks like an interesting subject :-)

It is a regular plastic kit made by ICM and reboxed by IDK. It is a pretty nice kit. There are a few places where things don't fit quite right and will require a bit of putty, but nothing serious (I've seen your planes and you can definately handle all of the small issues that this kit has). If you are interested in super-detailing the bad boy (as I have--I will be posting my pictures once I finish painting and weathering) you can get Friulmodel tracks, Eduard PE, and metal gun barrels.
