Andy,

My reply wasn't directed to you in any way to change the scope of the campaign. You have done a great job.

I was simply addressing why Mr. FNC1 feels a need to say that "we".....I guess he means Canada...have been using the LAV for 38 years....I don't see any need to sound off about who produced any type of vehicle........let the proof be in what the modeller can put forward in the campaign. The whole...."we had it first" mentality is not productive on any site. He can build a Bison if he wants but the campaign is Strykers and LAV IIIs....last I checked the Bison was neither of these. Canada only started using the LAV III in about 1999...the Stryker went into service with the US Army only a few years later....hardly many many years.

In the big scheme of things which variant came first does not matter.......have fun in the campaign and build a Stryker/LAV III variant. Call it a Kodiak, a Black Bear, a Polar Bear, a Panda, a Teddy Bear...having fun is what is important.

I did not say that we have used the LAV III for 38 years...I had said we have used that family for 38 years, and low and behold, we adopted the Grizzly and Cougar in 1970..that would be just about hmmmmm 38 years. That is the second time you misquoted me, on purpose perhaps?

I do agree though that there has been great work in putting this campaign together, and except for leocommander's negativity, I for one intend on having a great time building my Kodiak for it. Cudo's to those that have earned it. Now...I just have to figure out which base kit to start with!!

I hope your campaign project turns out very well.

Well, I have narrowed it down to the M1134 Stryker Anti-Tank Guided Missile.

This thing just looks like it just wants to cause some damage; and, quite frankly, I think it will give the Stryker a nice contrast to the kinda flat surface that the M1126 brings. Oh, one question though: Does anyone know if there are any M1134's with Slat Armor? I am not to restrictive on being 100% correct on the build (like rivets, etc) but I sure would love to give this thing something around the waste side.

Cheers,
Mike

Mike,

All of the Stryker variants in Iraq....including the M1134...have the slat armour packages.

Jason,
Thanks. Thats good news.

Funny thing though, I've tried for over a 20 minutes on posting the pic and all I got was a Red X. Now Im not bad with a computer so I am thinking that the challenges of this build have already started. Anybody know a quick and painless way to post a pic? Can you please send me a quick message on how? I would really appreciate it as Ive tried to follow the steps on the image Q&A.

Cheers

No problem...I am not sure why you can't get your photo to post. I can see it in your gallery no problem at all.

I'm signed up! Still going with the Trumpeter Stryker - just to prove it can be made to look decent!

Though it is true the Gov decided not to go with the name Kodiak, its certainly what WE called it when I was riding in them

I have a few buds in PPCLI and the Strats, have been around the base in Edmonton on numerous occasions - I have yet to hear ANYONE refer to the name Kodiak. It's just a LAV to them. Don't include me in the Royal "We" !

Hi,

I've planned a M1126 IDF Stryker, with Trophy system. Can this Stycker figure in the campaign ?

TIA

Hello All,
Here is a bit of usefull information for all of us. The Primer used at the plant on the LAVIII/Stryker and LAVII's is a custom semi-gloss white. Then it's overpainted with CARC green.

Jason,
I'm glad you liked the banner. I had a pretty hard time trying to get those crests.

I was at Torcan this weekend and got my conversion kit. Both the Real Models and the AEF were availible, but the Real Models was $130 to the AEF's $40. It will take a bit more work, but at a third the price, its the way I went . Just need a base kit now, and I can start my boat!
