Hi Andreas
I've signed up to the Wheeled AFV's/ Tracked APC's campaign with a view to build the NZLAV.
I've not really entered many before, could I sign up for this campaign with the same build?
I don't build 'em fast enough for two at the same time

You are not the first one to get that idea Normally it is not allowed to enter the same model in several campaigns. It has been discussed before and the consensus ended with one model is one campaign. The project/model should be for just one campaign, so you can share your work, discussions, ideas, etc. with one campaign group.

Hi Jesper
I just realised that it wouldn't work given that there is a few months between each campaign.

I'll join this one with the NZLAV by Real Model, and find something else for the other campaign (got a ASLAV APC on it's way to me).

Sorry that I didn't get to respon earlier, but I see you were given the correct answer. Good Luck with your build. I am doing the Canadian LAVIII from Real Models.

Sorry for my ignorance, but will the kit below be OK for this campaign?

I am not entirely sure about the difference between the different LAV versions and designations in the different countries. Normally I am more into WWII armour.

That's a LAV II not included in this campaign.

Thanks for the quick answer, Andy. OK, I will find something else that fits. I will go with something that says Stryker on the box. Then I should be home safe

Ok,
One week until the official kickoff of the campagin. I hope that everyone has their kits, photoetch, and various other items on hand already. I've got my Real Models LAVIII conversion just waiting to go. I've looked at the directions and have been making notes on what sequence I want to start. I personally can't wait to get started.

My NZLAV conversion turned up today from Real Model and I'm looking forward to the kick off.
Great kit but no decals or markings included, I'll hopefully cobble something together during the build.

I found that the resin replacement hull was a little short in height at the rear so the AFV Club parts for the rear door and such were a liitle high. Some shaving and grunting ensued to get it to fit.

Hi Bob
I've been testing fitting a couple of the parts and found the same problem with the NZLAV kit.
Do you have any pictures of how you sorted it?
As I see it I can either add some styrene to the bottom of the upper hull and build it up where necessary, or shave down the top of the rear hull plate until it fits. I'm leaning towards the first option, this picture seem to confirm the wider gap between the top of the ramp and the top of the hull:

Cheers Dave.

Dave,
I think that we've already discussed this, but the Stryker Hull is different than the LAVIII hulls mounting turrets, so some mods to part E1 is required and is mentioned in the last page of Real Models instructions as an almose by the way.

That was posted almost a week ago Andy, so it doesn't really matter now.
Having said that, the pictures show the fit between the upper and lower hulls after I had removed the corners from E1. I've since made some further adjustments to E1 and the fit is much better now

I'll try to get some images posted tonight.

Cheers
Dave.

Hey all,

Well, Ive just moved into a new house and my stuff is all over the place. Between getting this place into shape and work, its been hard to even consider build time right now. To add to the fire, I won a slat armor PE set from Eduards on ebay and it has not come in yet. Its been over a month and a half....

I will be starting a build blog next week though without the slat.....gotta get scratching out the anti-tank system for the ATGM version.

Cheers
