Just got one today in my hotmail inbox with the $100 coupon offer. I haven't followed the links, but the mail clearly states that Roger's work is being sponsored by swapey. Also, all the links are clearly swapey url's, so I think it's unfair to say that he's scamming us. It's just the usual run-of-the-mill spam.

I contacted the University yesterday (as the mails are from a student a/c) and got this response this morning;

Dear Mr Rae,
thank you for your message. To check if the Mails were sent by our Student, could you please forward one of the spammails. We need the original Mail (including the header).
We have sometimes Problems that our Mail adresse were misused by spammers because its very easy to fake sender addresses. If that’s the case, it’s impossible for us to do anything against. If the Mails really were sent trough our mailserver, we will immediately lock the emailadress.

So, not surprisingly, they are taking it very seriously. Hopefully, if that's the case, there will be other sanctions against the poster.

Jim,

Could you please send me the address you will be forwarding the spam message to? I'd like to forward my complaint as well.

Internet fraud comes immediately to my mind...not to mention the negative impact on the hobby that this so called "modeler" is causing with this total load of crap...luckily KitMaker members have been involved with this scam from the get go, and oh yes, Mr. swamp rat, we're on to you........

For the heck of it, I ran a simple google search on "swapey". This guy has made the rounds to most modeling forums as well as militaria. Luckily the word is getting out and being referenced back to either here or Jim's post at ML.
