I have changed my mind and I have decided to stick to what I know. I propose to build a small vignette showing Japanese paratroopers in action, probably at Palembang 1942.

Looking forward to this campaign.

I have joined this campaign and will be doing something Vietnam related.
Either
The dragon UH 1D huey with Cav troopers exiting,
The Academy M551 Sheridan
or if I'm really feeling brave I might try converting some figures into french foreign legion paratroopers from the French Indo-China war era, maybe at Dien Bien Phu?
Cheers

hello Andrzej,
got the Huey on order, will order the figures next month.
i just remembered that when the Airborne Campaign starts so does my Predreadnought Ship Campaign, which means i get to build the Huey but also a resin ship.it looks like November is going to be a fun month
i just got my DVD on the battle at LZ X-Ray,along with the book.so it should be fairly accurate build.
cheers,
Bruce

@ Chas - it's great that you are going to add the Pacific accent to our campaign! Campaign is in winter so it will be nice to see some hot nice wather at least on dioramas .

@ David - welcome! You have quite wide range of time and place ideas in your mind - this campaign is going to be more interesting than I've presummed.

@ Bruce - you're going to have busy end of the year (and the beginning of next one as well). Vietnam war is not something I'm familiar with so your work may give me a push to read something more about it!

Bruce - thanks for recommendation. I've heard about this moovie and book (and I've heard that both are great) though I did not read/see them yet. I don't know what to think about this Mel Gibson guy anymore . Times were easier for me (and for him too I think) during the Madmax era .
Anyway - history of war in Vietnam is not well known in Poland. Probably it looks so because during this war Poland was under Soviet Union ocupation (more or less) and information concerning this war was rather questionable. When I was in high school Vietnam war was not even discussed...

Just a question,
How about U.S. Rangers in Somalia? Something like "Black Hawk Down". Rangers are not airborne, but for this operation they were airlifted into combat. It sounded like a neat vigenette to me. I haven't done anything outside of "German WWII" in about twenty years. It would expand my scope a little.

They were used as an Air Cavalery during the Gothic Serpent op. (some of them at least ) - yes, I do think it fits our campaign. They have fallen from the sky so it qualifies.
Are you planning to show them jumping off the Hawks? That would be beautifull.

Hello
Finally made my mind up as to what to build. I'm thinking of building a small diorama of a group of US Airborne with the M8 75mm Pack Howitzer.

Hello,

Would this one be allowed for the campaign (it does have fallschirmjäger):

https://www.plasticmodelbouw.nl/download/?id=5309253&maxSize=700

I had already ordered it (came today ) before I signed on for this campaign. If it is not allowed for being too much armour not enough airborne then that is ok, still have another little idea for a fallschirmjäger theme.

Greetings,
Maurice

Hi Maurice,

Since Fallschirmjäger are included it fits.
I'm thinking about building something with 3rd Fallschirmjäger division myself (I may decide to build more than one dio in this campaign....).

It's great to see that people are joining this campaign

Hi Andrzej
The figures are from the Dragon range choice of the following sets 6010 Normandy 6163 Bastogne or 6148 Operation Varsity all can be repositioned easily enough. The 75mm is a resin 1 that I picked up off Ebay cant remember who made it ( up in the loft at the moment).
Thought I'd do a small diorama set up with them either unloading in from the remains of a glider ( still working on this idea) or have them setting up the gun.
Not sure yet on location except that it's after D-day & it's europe.

The Ranger Regt is a light infantry unit composed of highly trained and motivated Airborne/Ranger qualified soldiers. We performed the following:
Raids, Scuba, Hostage rescues, Recons, Demolitions, POW's rescues, Ambushes, Parachute Assualts, Embassies Gaurded, Airassualt, Halo Airlands, Riverops.

I will buy a beer (or orange juice and cookies for underaged members ) for first person showing this on a diorama

Just kidding - this is out of campaign, but it sure is worth posting. It's Homo Volans - 1595 Faust Vrančić's parachute project. It's amazing how old it is... Fortunately nobody tried to use that for a military purposes - jumping in full plate armor would not be every wise .

Rangers are not airborne......

I don't don't where you got that info, but you might want to rethink that. I know a lot of guys who would highly disagree with you. Namely the entire 75th Ranger Regiment. The Rangers are some of the most jumping soldiers the US has. I'm in for the campaign too. Will give me the chance to use all of these Nimrod figures I recently acquired. "Q"
