Just don't say you want it "somewhat realistic" without expecting some "real" discussion.
I suppose what I am after is a realistic approach to an unrealistic concept. I have drawn a mental line in the sand as far as realism is concerned and I may be the only one who knows when I have crossed it. Therefore some topics just seem to me to be unnecessary. Either too realistic (Tigers couldn't get on the moon!) or too fantastic (They could with anti-gravity!)
It is hard to explain...
Maybe I only want one heavy dose of unreality and anything else is too much... The tiger is on the moon, this is an unrealistic setting, but everything else about the piece must be finished in as realistic a fasion as I can. Thus, discussions on workable anti-gravity in the mid 1940s are moot as this would add an unrealistic element to the already unrealistic situation. Too much for me!
I suppose it is similar to the idea of creating paper-panzers. You propose an unrealistic miliu but still want to finish the vehicle a realistic way.
It is difficult...
One reality is that all of my local hobby shops have no stock of the donor model I was considering (Dragon 3-in-1 late Tiger) so this project will be on hold for a week or two.
pimpdogbert: The tiger will use a compartmentalized oxygen storage system that will be compatable with the crew suits, so if long periods outside the tank are necessary the crew can use the tank's oxygen cells / caplets.
