Here's my progress on AFV's Sd Kfz 11. The kit is going together well. I have found some fit issues but nothing major. I am planning on doing a winter version from Karkov 1943. I made some scratchbuilt shift levers and also used some of the Eduard set for the build.

I have decided to put the Sd Kfz on hold and enter the campagin with Dragons 2006 release of the M2A1, a kit I'm sure we are all familiar with as I see many others building it. Its been sitting on my shelf calling me for almost 2 years and I can't wait any longer. As far as the AFV 11 I found some fit issues with the rear bed and also with the front cab. The access doors on either side of it had a terrible fit as well. I did overcome the problems but I'm not impressed with the kit at all. I thought I heard that DML may be making this and I hope it's true. Pics soon of the M2. Cheers.

Superb halftracks are turning out. When I proposed this campaign, I didn't think it would be this popular, thanks people!
I have made progress on my riveted Sdkfz 251C (from DML), but I haven't taken photos yet, I will post progress some time.
Keep the great models coming!

I just got started today with mine. Decided to show the old Tamiya M16 some love. I have the following extras to add...
As you can see there is just a few items. I'm really interested to see how this is all going to fit.
I began by clening up the R&J tracks. This took some time....a lot of time to be precise.
Once I was complete with the clean up of the tracks I focused on the K59 sprockets and idlers. To say these are nice is an understatement. They are very nice I did my best to not damage them, but I managed to ding both idlers in a couple of spots, and one of the sprockets. Luckily it wasn't too bad and I can position them so the track is covering them.
The R&J wheels were the last items cleaned before I dove into the kit parts themselves. At the end of tonights build session, this is where she stands. I'm letting the sprocket attachments dry fully as there is quite a bit of tension placed on them when the resin tracks are fitted. I pulled one off already while test fitting them Thanks for looking. Hey guys
Can't believe I missed this campaign. Anyway i just signed up, hopefully this will give me a chance to build some of the Italeri demag d7's in my stash. Somehow I've accumulated 5 of them in different forms.
Is it ok to build an abandoned vehicle, I'm thinking about an abandoned D7 a couple of years after the war alongside a road in Italy?
Love th work thats been done so far!!

Hi Anirudh,
As long as it is a half-track, damaged or abandoned, you can build it. Of course, it should still look like a half-track, not a heap of burnt out metal .

Don't worry Emre, It will still look like a halftrack, though at the moment it looks a bit messy with all the layers of rust, pigments and oil paints I've covered it with. I am gonna have to tone it all down so doesn't look as if someone has spilt aload of orange and red paint on it.

Its the little victorys that count. I was finally able to get both tracks on my Tamiya M16 Never mind that it took me almost an hour to do so, but they are on. The R&J tracks aren't the best fitting, and have a slight warp to them, but once on the vehicle, and attached to a base, it won't be noticable. I begin working 3rd shift tonight, 9pm-6am arrrgh so I wanted to at least get the base coat of paint on her before leaving for work. I was able to do that and also get some shading done too. I'm planning on experimenting with a variation on this "Spanigh School" technique I keep hearing and reading so much about. Curious to see how it works out on this build. TIme for a nap before work. Thanks for looking. "Q"

I hit a bit of a snag today... a sprue came up missing! I hope I left it at school, but come to think of it... I don't remember seeing it. I have most of my 251/1 interior and drive components built. I now need to scratch the rear hatch, portholes, and the side toolboxes. Let's hope it turns out ok.

Phun with Photo-Etch! I was trying and trying to figure out the destructions for the old Eduard PE set I had for the M16 gun shields as I couldn't really determine what went where. I was a little skeptical, but started none the less. Once I got started, it was pretty easy. This was the first set of PE that I have soldered and once I figured out the procedure on the first shield, the second one went a lot smoother and faster. Also got my stars painted on this morning after getting home from work. Need to touch up a little over spray, but for the most part, the stencils came out well. Will get some overall pics up soon. For now, here's the PE gun shields. I need to add some attaching strips as there is about 3mm of material that attach them to the front part of the gun cupola. Not a lot of contact area, and I don't want them falling off. Thanks, time for my nap before work. Thanks, "Q"

Yet more progress on my Tamiya M-16 halftrack. Finally got the gun tub/turret/cupola complete, but will not be able to use the cool looking Eduard gun shields as there is no way to mount them even using strip material to make brackets. That, and they are too wide to allow the guns to rotate freely. I'll use them for some other project so all that time and effort spent soldering them together isn't wasted. Mounted the cab and rear of the truck to the frame, got the tires and tracks painted. I used RLM 66 with a couple drops of flat black added to darken it up just a tad. Added the drive lines and exhaust, painted and installed all the seats and added the armored visor to the front of the cab. Getting close to putting the wraps on this one and I am glad as I have some other committments waiting in the wings. Namely my C-46 Commando which is ready for paint. Anyway, here it is....again. Time for my evening nap before work. "Q"

I'm finished. I plan on adding some bags and a little more weathering here and there, but for all intents and purposes, it's done. Despite its age, it really went together well. I'm curious to see how it stacks up against the Dragon offering which I plan on getting to soon. Thanks, "Q"
ps. I plan on hiding those nasty a** jerry can handles too...

Nice to see somebody else built the M16 as well. You even used the same serial numbers as mine.. lol. I cheated though and stenciled mine on. Looks good Keith. "Q"
