Yeah that's cool man - don't lose your shirt over it. Just making the point that there is the proper shade of Australian OD available (from White Ensign Models).
I appreciate your age, & remember, we've all been that age & at that same point in our modelling 'life', so no-one here is shooting your balloon down before you get off the ground. As I said at the start of my post - nice work mate.

Final note: No I didn't serve. But it is a theatre of battle most Aussie modellers have a lot of reference on, so if you're curious for info, ask away...

Relax, no one is saying you didn't do a great job. You need to realize when someone is giving you pointers to help you out. Being 16 isn't an excuse either. You can do some research and ask some questions here as to what is accurate and how it should be. I applaud you for wanting to jump in and do as many models as possible, and if thats all you want great. Maybe slowing down and doing some research and asking some questions will help you out in the long run though as you get better and start looking for more out of the hobby.

The subject of the Australian Army's own specialised Lustreless Olive Drab is a complex one. It was introduced into theatre about 1968 (firstly with the Cav units & then gradually making it's way to the tankies) & is still in use today. The source of the colour is clouded, but suffice to say it is significantly different than any other OD on the market, & it fades & weathers quite quickly.
If you use the search box at the top right of the page & type in vietnam dirt or variations thereof, you should be able to find the thread.

Yep, Aussie "Olive Drab" is considerably lighter than the standard (if there is such a thing) OD's. I would consider it more a "light olive".

If you're working with Tamiya paints, two parts Olive Green (XF-58) to one part Dark Yellow (XF-60) will get you pretty close.

Out of the bottle, straight Gunze H321, "Dark Green" (A JASDF aircraft colour) is pretty close too.
