Looks better darren, Glad i can finally be a help to some one here in any small way. I got to the paint stage of this kit before packing it up and shipping it out. Becareful of the weirdness to come like missing handles for some reason trump only gives you one for the engine hatch but there are two needed best thing to do is make some out of wire and use the plastic one as a template.

Hi folks
Sorry its been awhile (you know how it is)So it is stages 14 to 17, went easy enough no major issues in these few stages. The only prob was the location of part J49 which turns out to be J29.The last of the P/E smoke launchers is on.The side rack thinsgs where a little fiddly (or maybe i should of let the glue set abot more).
Before I forget a big thank you to Walt and Pete for the info
THe next stages wil be18 through to 21 which covers the lights and front hatch.
Rear hatch
One of the side racks
Front launcher
So far so good !! (not glued yet)
So there she is still a way to go yet but this kit has been a joy to build so far, more soon
thanks Darren

Looking good darren.
In the picture you can see the handles i was talking about before i see you put on in but there should be two as in the picture. The only other thing i can think of right now is the plastic jugs that have two handles i'm not sure what they should be but they are not gas containers because they don't have three handles and they aren't water either. If you want to use them paint them a darker color like green or a blue to make them some thing along the lines of oil or some other type of liquid that they might carry.

hi all
Slow work this time due to work and getting xmas prezzes (nightmare). So on with the stryker what has been do is stages 18/21 mainly upper front of hull.Lights, drivers hatch, vent of some sort and winch. All went together well was one peice of P/E on the vent.I have put some wire around the winch as the reel did not look nice, this had to be sanded away to nmake room for wire as it was to big on test fit, so out came the files and I carefull filed away the inner part of the plastic .The only things is that I do not know where it go from there (I've looked online but only got the kit) I left the lenses from the lights til after painting. The winch should not be put in at this stage but I wanted it in to see.The only problem with the winch is the locating pin on bottom is that mine did not fit sungly so I removed it and this seeme to cure the problem. Also wanted to put cables for lights but again could not fined .
The next stages will be 22 through to 26
Bits and peices
Winch (sorry its blured)
Lights
So it will be guled together in the next stages
Thanks for looking and showing an intrest Darren

Looking good here is a picture of the winch to help you route the cable i hope you haven't closed it up yet.
Don't forget to route the cable through here in the circle with the pully.

Yeah thats why i left my winch off since it won't be seen i just ran the wire through the pully and under shell. The only way to really show it off would be to have the cover off and a crew man working on it.

Hi Walt,
What is the diameter of the wire you suggest to use for the smoke launchers on M1127 RV?
Best rgd,
Sebastian Lim

Sebastian i use 18 gauge wire and break it down to get the wire inside which is strands which are 26 gauge or about 0.4mm each strand. The 26 guage wire you can buy alone in spools in hardware stores or hobby shops. This is what i use and to me it looks right not to small and not to big.

hi all
In these stages it was mainly the small bits and peices that on and around the hull, the gluing of the two halves together, the small observation widow, turret small winch all the nitty gritty bits really.
The observation window is abit fiddly but looks ok when complete,a nice touch is the inclution of masks for painting i have left off the wiper as to get the mask off later .Made a mistake with the part on top of screen but is right way around now (last pic is wrong way)
So the last stage is stage 29 which is the MG and the light type thing on top will try to find some pic of light to get some cables on there so this may take some time
Thanks for looking Darren
Coming along
Observation window?
See you soon Darren

Please Darren
Post better pictures your build deserve better one.
Are you using your cell phone ???
BTW i do believe that you are using too much glue, i can see that with the gloss spot around the front hatch.
You need also to clean all the seam lines on the grenade launchers.
Cheers

Hi all
Fritly sorry about last lot of pictures
Walt the gun is just placed on for the pic,the missing part is now replaced as the orginal was lost to the great carpet of doom.
So the last stages of the build is the gun/craddle and light type thing.this is why so long as I had trouble finding any pcturs of it,i found one of a completed model but it was not very clear as to where the cables went.So if it not right tell me and I will try to put it right, also i put in some cables for the lights Again only found pics of left hand light. But apart from this the build ofthe whole kit has been a joy to build.Only the mirrors and the gun handleto put on.Then its off to the paint shop(back room)
Once again if it does not look right tell me and I'll try to put it right .
light cables
gun and light thing
So there it is ready for painting will put lenses in lights etc when painted
thanks for looking

Your build looks really cool! I'm gonna start mine M1127 soon, so I keep this one in my mind.
That "light thing" isn't a lamp or something like that. It's a sort of camera/binocular thing with sensors in it. Through this device you can have a huge zoom. I've also heard it has other views like infra-red. I don't have books with me right now with the complete info, but I think Gino can give you the exact information. If not, I shall look it up in my reference books.

The LRAS3 from Raytheon
The LRAS3 is a long range multisensor system designed for use by the US Army platforms in surveillance and reconnaissance missions. It provides real-time, day and night, in adverse weather conditions the capability to detect, recognize, identify, and pinpoint far target locations. The LRAS3 consists of a second generation FLIR, TV camera, GPS interferometer, and an eyesafe laser range finder. It can be mounted either on armored ground vehicles such as the HMMWV, M1, M2 and Stryker or used on a tripod for dismounted missions.
The LRAS3 can establish a target location coordinates at 10 kilometers with an estimated CEP of 60 meters. The laser rangefinder is capable of range measurements with 5 meters accuracy. The LRAS3 outperforms and supersedes the currently fielded AN/TAS-6 NODLR.
The US Army and the US Marine Corps are the largest customers for LRAS3 second generation forward looking infrared (FLIR) system. The system has also been ordered by international customers. To date, the US Army has awarded Raytheon several orders known as Block 0 and Block 1. As of October 2005, multiyear Block 1 system orders represent production of 1,603 B kits and 252 A kits for the M1A2 battle tank. Fiscal year 2005 Block 1 orders are worth $180 million.
You got the wires right but a bit to long and they should be between the lras and the cradle from pictures i have seen.

Darren,
Looks good. Only two small points I see. First, your smoke dischargers are all aligned. The pairs should point out slightly from center (see the pix posted earlier). Second, your cable should come out to the rear of the pulley you threaded it through, not in front. Keep up the good work!

Hi all
here are some pictures of my stryker so far, have sprayed it now.base coat of tamiya olive drab, then a spraying of dark green XF73 JGSDF. then I over sprayed again with humbrol 102 (came from my box of paints).Next it will get a coat of johnons clear (future for our American friends)I will then apply decals, then it will get a light weathering ,a wash or two, some dry brushing(I know this so last year),then maybe a light dusting of pigments,I dont like to oer weather my models so it will be subtle.
But alias you will have to wait now till after this fine festive season as I'm gonna be stuffing my face ,with all the food I/we brought. So enjoy yourselves over christmas and have fun (maybe you'll all get new kits )
Here are some pictures so far, thanks for looking ,I'll try to answer any questions.
Darren
There you go till after christmas enjoy the festive time See you soon
