You will be adding another coat or two of the final color before clear coating right?
The paint looks splotchy to where you can see the under laying colors. A good weathering tip is after you do your clear coat take some tamiya black and thin it down and place it on areas you want to high light then wipe it off with a damp cloth. Clean up is easy because of the clear coat layer it does a good job at high lighting panel recess areas and bolts.
Other then that your stryker is coming along good!

hi all
Sorry its been a while you know how it is over xmas .So I have been at the painting again got all the bits i missed ,I have added a washes of light buff color can not remember what color and a bit of black is there to belive it or not .I have not put the camera lens in as I'm not sure as to what color it has to be as i want to paint it on thee rear of lens. The other thing I'm abit unsure of is the colors of the ruck/back packs to use as stoage as both the trump and tamiya packs I'll use both say they are a plain green color
Wheels are not stuck on yet either as I wont to put some pigments around bottom half of stryker. Any question please ask
Sorry if some of pics are bit blurry as I still haven't got my camera fixed thanks for looking

Looking good like the weathering just the right amount really for a street used vehicle. Don't forget to paint the smoke popper heads and add some black wash to the exhaust other things to touch up are the bolt heads on the two shackles i use red but you could use blue, green make then high visible so if you drop them in the dirt, sand, snow. As far as gear goes i advise staying with in shades of green with a few black or dark grays your best bet is google search for any american vehicle in iraq so you can see the gear and take your paint guide from there.

The picture i posted is showing a reflection of the object in front of it which happens to be sand showing that golden look to the lens. A blackish / blue will work fine for the lens you can use tamiya transparent blue first on the lens then a coat of black onto of the blue. Or if you can find some Mylar confetti in a local arts & craft store or local retail chain store in the arts & crafts department they sell some real nice shiny reflective confetti that is great for things like this and it also works great on vision blocks just match the color you need.

Thanks for your pretty comprehensive build log and congrats for your fine model.
A question for Pete EPI, is the slat armor package standard to all the variants of Stryker ? My guess is not but !? Hence is any AM slat armor set useable on this kind of variant ?
TIA
Olivier

This model is a cracker; I am building it at the moment First time I have built a Trumpeter model. I have got to stage 12, building the grenade launchers. I appreciate all the details for the wiring Darren. I was wondering Walt where does the cabling for the LRAS3 connect to on your photo.

Cookie you can see the circled box this is the starting point for the two cables which go to the two front mount plugs on the LRAS3 had to use darrens pictures since i don't have access to mine. Most pictures of the LRAS3 have the wires routed under it through the yoke then into the box.

Darren if this doesn't get to you to late you can by pass those sticky straps and go for PE ones like these EDUTP515 US Tie Downs and Straps or EDUTP513 German Tie Down and Straps they come prepainted and look very nice and there are many strap sets also made just for the stryker. EDU36001 Stryker stowage belts you can find these and a few more at sites like greatmodels, spruebrothers and others.
I don't think i will be around to see this girl finished after this coming thursday i will be on my way back to the east coast and with out net access for a while. But seeing where you are right now with this one i know it will be a great finished model.

Looking good. I've just started mine. One thing I found was with parts B31 and A33s. I should've dry fit B31 and then A33 as I found one of the A33s was leaning to the left due to B31 not sitting quite central. It didn't site flat so I had to trim the locating tabs. Then fit parts C11 / C12. It's fixed now but if I had changed the sequence I would've picked this up sooner.
You thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hey Darren the straps look good but a little hard to tell the color of them from the pictures i forgot you we're doing a budget build up. Don't forget to add tie down straps to the gas and water cans and it looks like you painted all the raised areas on the hatches black if so only one of them is the bump stop the one in the rear center of each hatch. Also it looks like you left off the bolt heads on the gun shield if you don't want to use the pe bolt heads if i am remembering right this kit has a second side panel not used for this vehicle set up...or was that the M1130? you might be able to slice off some plastic bolt heads to add to the gun shield but it a noticeable item missing. And if you want a fast way to do the vision block the confetti works wonders for that myself i use red transparent styrene with a silver back for all my vision blocks. But over all Darren your build is looking great and will make for a real nice display.
I still got a few days before i go cold

Looks great Darren.
I see you left off the exaust deflector. I'm currectly doing one of these also. I'm going to use the drivers compartment windows things on an AFV kit as there is more detail on the underside of the hatch with the vision blocks...not sure that they'd be visable anyway, but it struck me as a good idea. I made a complete dog's dinner of the PE wheel strut guards so ended up using the plastic ones instead
Cheers,
Sean
