Hi all
So where do i start, this will be my frist work in progress build,so bare with me on this.
This is the trumpeter kit (00395) brought at my local model shop.I was very impressed on the opening of the box.mainly because of the C/ration and drinks boxes, the overall detail of the kit looks good (but hey I'm no expert)The kit is going to built straight from the box no after market goodies (credit chrunch stryker!!)
Here are a few pics of the contents of the box

So there she is. I will have to see this onr through to end as iI have committed myself now. Will start on this ASAP so watch this space,so please feel free to suggest things to me or ask any questions>Like I said I dont claim to be an expert as I only make models for me (no nut, bolt or rivet counting) but will do my best to make it look like a Stryker at the end of the build.

thanks Darren

Darren,
I'm working on this one along with two other Strykers. I know you said your not a nuts and bolts counter, but just for FYI, if your building it OOB, don't add the water boxes since those are used in country. What I mean is that all Strykers that are in Iraq have the add on Slat Armor, so OOB this will build a state side Stryker, wich I'm going to do with mine(don't want to tackle another slat armor project since my palte is full).

If you feel up to it, when you get to the figures, add the missing pockets on the sleeves and bottom pant legs and you have them wearing ACU's. If not, they would have to be painted wearing woodland BDU's and desert DCU's for a state side vehicle. DCCU's are only in country.

Hi all
Started with stage1 through to 3. went ok no major problems. 2 things to be careful of (1 drive shafts(a5/6) have a slight angle to them which has to upwards (2- part A33 has two ejector pin marks easy to remove with file/sandpaper. Lets hope all shafts are level when wheels go on (LOL) Did have pics of these two things but I deleted instead of save (dumbo)

where the pin marks where!

diff box and driveshafts you can just see them looking upwards!!

All 4 diffs armourfront and sides added also towing eye things (just behind side armour)

next up will be stages 4 through to 7 more of the under side

Seb:- quailty is up to Trumpeters usual standard very crisp detail

Pete:- thanks for info will bare this in mind (to buy slate armour here in UK is more than the price of the kit hence credit crunch styker. Not to good on my figure painting but will give it ago

Just a note about the kit figures the detail on body armour look good, seperate hands.there are 4 figures only 3 of them have heads with helmets on one has no helmet (c4)

see you soon Darren

I know your pain Darren, thats why I'm not putting slat on this one too.
I noticed that too about the figures, maybe a induvidual set will be coming out with the rest of the parts for that figure. I'm oing to fix those figures up a bit and grab a helmet and pouches from the spares box for that one. I like the "nut" protector it came with. The CVC helemts on the crew are very well done per Trumpeter standards.

Hi all
We're back in bussiness Stole other halfs camera (borrowed more like). So stages 4 through to 7 were a little more difficult ! As in stage 6 deals with the photo etch parts. Not really shown how to bend or where to place them.So they went on where the plastic parts would have gone. They look OK to me but hey Im no expert .Managed to get the wheels all to touch the ground.Only one other area to be careful with is stage 5 first sub section, you have to make 4 suspenion assembley type things AA-BB be careful with part A42 has to be a different way around for AA than BB (or left & right). Apart from the P/E all went together easy enough.
Next stages will be 8 & 9 the back of the styker more P/E

More parts of the under side added

suspenion parts and rear side boxes

Photo etch or plastic parts MMMMM

P/E added (right place??)

Wheels

Left & right touch down!!!

more up dates later folks thanks Darren

This is great build
Concerning the wheels, you should remove the circles for all the wheels and keep the one only for the wheels close to the driver.
Cheers

Hi all
next up are stages 8&9,went together realy well, started with rear of hull, with lights& towing eyes.Next was the 2 rear door assembles, then we have a choice of photo etch or plastic jerry can holders.I went for the P/E.these etch parts have the locating pins on them so no miss alinement (well done trumpeter)same with the smaller etch parts whch go underneath. Will add jerry cans at later date!. Then we have to fix it to rear hull along with some parts from stage 5.It all went well alot easier than before clearer insructions
Next stages will be 10 through to 13 which is some of the upper hull.

One of the rear racks

both on

different angles

all put together

So far it has been a realetivly easy build. thanks for your comments

Looking good man. Just a tip i used some of the PE from the AFV M1130 kit to dress up the trump kit IE: footman loops and bolt heads.

I can't wait to get my move over with so i can get back to my M1127 and M1130 both which are more "what if" style then whats in the battle field now atleast by color standards any ways.

darren i believe that is the spool that holds the rope and the main part of the winch is behind that.. The trump kit doesn't include that part but the afv club kit does.

Hi again
Sorry is been awhile, had a few problems with car.
So stage 10 /13 which is the top part of the hull ie, roof, smoke launchers wire cutters. In these stages we get to use a lot of photo etch parts. Starts off with the first of the wire cutters which is either plastic part of P/E no need to say which I used ,then its vent and grill also P/E,and the various hatches and winch parts or next ,then its on to the smoke launchers there is no plastic part for this only the base and smoke tubes,so a lot of bending to be done (I added some wires to the launchers dont know if this right but looks OK to me) last part to do in this stage is the second wire cutter again I choosethe P/E parts'

Seb this trump kit does have the winch in it so will tryand get a wire in there some how

first wire cutter

Start of smoke launchers

wires added

One of the 2 in place

both in place

Top so far

next stages will be 14 through to 17 which is more of the upper hull

thanks Darren

Thanks for your comments guys as this my first go at putting something like this on
here

hopefully this is rhe pic that is missing

the only concern I have with the kit is that trumpeter says the color is light green and gives tamiya color xf20 which is medium gery??? so will have to find a color that matches
thanks again guys Darren

Darren,
Here are some more FYI stuff for your build. I don't know if yuo want to correct them, but the smoke launchers are wired just a bit wrong. Over on Prime Portal, are some great walk arounds of the M1127, this is where I got these.

Oh, and on the paint color, just use Tamiya NATO green. works just fine and that is what I use on mine.

darren if you want to fix the smoke poppers it will be easy to do just plug up any holes you may have drilled for wires with a bit of glue or putty. You can see in this edit of one of your pics how to run the wires the piece in blue has a pin in the center this is where the wire attaches all the poppers have a bundle plug. They all connect at one central point and run seprate routes to the poppers.
