These carriers have sat so close to completion for so long, I reckon it's about time I do something about some paint!
In the meantime, here's the ultimate accesory for an Aussie Somalia Carrier in Somalia in 1993:

Okay, while I have managed to try and complete some of my obscure shelf fillers, The Rwanda carrier project has stalled.
I took another look at 134192 (the gun car) today, and it don't need much - some towing shackles and a couple of lifting points for the front.
I filled in some annoying sink holes on the side panels and rejigged the rear end so that the filler caps of the jerries face inwards, and while I was at it I lowered the rear guards and morticed the rear hull corners.
I also finally came up with a solution for the gun deflector at the rear of the turret (in the end I used aluminium rod, and it took two minutes), although the two braces still need to be added.
Another "project stopper" was the towing draw bar, but I found exactly the right one in the Dragon M1A1 AIM kit, which I won't be needing for my Mogadishu USMC vehicle (alas, I'll need to buy another kit to get a draw bar for the fitter).
Really, all the hard work on this project is now done, and seeing that the vehicles were very clean, painted plain white and I have an excellent set of Echelon decals for the very vehicle I am modelling, the rest of the process should come together quickly.
I suppose the real staller were the 'orrible sink holes on the side panels, but I've since discovered Tamiya white putty, and they were gone within an hour.
Let's see if I can get some white paint and decals on 134192 by this weekend!

after trolling thru old threads on here whilst im at work(hey what else am i gonna do in my spae time) i came accross this gem. i just notice a bit of discusiion about having 4 radios on the vic 1 harness ref ur NAM bucket mick
as was previously mentioned only 3 radios will be fillted to the harness but ony the A and C ( RT 524) will be able to talk thru the headset. the B set (77 set) was always off the face. id say the 4th radio would also be off the face unless as you said jason a second 1780 was installed. quite possible to do as there are 2 3 pin power cables in a carrier but this would then create its own harness so you would still need to communicate off the face. as what would happen in the back of the ACV
im going to take a wild stab in the dark here. being niners car the 4 th radio would be for higer command so no real need to communicate thru the harness
Mick the builds are coming along nicely too

G'day Mark and Jason. Just to allay any confusion about the AN/VIC 1 Harness. As an old Comms instructor we need to remember that the 'B' Set was link left in the MT1029 Mounting Tray hence you can only hear it through the harness and not TX. A 'D' Set would be link right and able to RX/TX through the harness. Or was it the other way around? Remember how we had to always write the link on the cover which would inevitably be wrong and result in yoga style contoursionism with a torch and mirror to check. The 'B' Set which was normally an AN/PRC 25 (Nam) or an AN/PRC 77 (later on but looked the same) mounted in a AN/AMP 2060 also drew its power from the second bendex connection as you mentioned Mark. So as a result it was technically on its own in the harness, the 'D' Set would have drawn its power through the harness with the power cable going into the 'A' Set mounting tray. Hence the linking bridges. Gawd that was a walk down memory lane. At least there's no 'J' box.
Can't wait to see the paint work Mick and sorry about hijacking the thread but I just wanted to confirm the comms stuff. Cheers John

thanks for clearing that up john after you mentioned link left on the b set tray the penny dropped (it was rare we even had a b set connected in our cars) and had cetrainly been a while since i played with vic 1.
