Anyone know how to make tall, dead trees? I need them to be between 8-12in. I can always trim them down. I dont have a pic. of the trees I want, but there really tall, and pretty skinny. I've seen them in Vietnam, dono if there anywhere else?

Here is an article from GeneralFailure About making trees with twisted wire I have used this technique myself and It works really good
Making trees by General Failure I did the same as he did but I made an addition to it by twisting tissuepaper around it and brushed a mixture of diluted white glue (50% water/50% White glue) To give the tree a bit mor volume on the trunk and the bigger branches.
These are some threads from Slodder a couple of months ago and here he explains how he made his tree

Well these are some good articles for you and this should give you some ideas to make your tree and experimenting yourself is also always good or combining different techniques that you thought out your self and what you have learned through the posts here
Hope this is of some help

An easy solution may be in your back yard. Dead trees can be replicated with roots from your yard. If you have any of that pesky Privot weed (hardwood hedge like weed) growing in your yard, pull it up and the root system looks exactly like a tall, skinny, dead tree. Just wash the dirt off, let it dry and presto.......a tall dead skinny tree for free.

Mike,
Please check the article Robert refers to. It allows you to make trees in any shape you want, and though it takes some patience, it always works. you can add "good-looking" bits and pieces of dead plant materiel to the branches. Bushy plants and shrubs often have hard fine roots that look convincing for this purpose.
