Hi mecanix.
Your SISU looks great but I have some small details you might wanna correct.
The bars and plates on the rear roof should not be that high.
The round bars is only a couple of centimeters from the roof, you can hardly put your hand under them.
Look at these images and you'll see.

Me as gunner :-)

Great progress on the SISU, Mecanix. Increadible that you are building this from plastic sheets and rods.

Looking forward to see more.

Jesper thank you
Thord, looking again you are quite right and the side bars look over thick too. The roof bars I can fix but the side ones are CA'in so I'll have to live with them. (lesson, never model in the early hours of the morning!!)
You photos on PrimePortal have gotten me this far so thanks for that.

Mecanix that is your best work to date, I'm blown away man, smashing job!

Are going to put the Duska on or the HMG?

The Duska was only in short term service before the field workshops could add the 50 mount

Thord - great photos, thanks for sharing!

I will have a lot of work to catch to paddy’s so-called "non-perfection",(his words)
Thanks for bringing the model along to the club meeting for all to admire.

Looks good, Scott. Remember to shoot some pictures in daylight without flash. Then I think it will look even better.

Looking forward to see more.

Been up in the Welsh hills with some students over the last couple of weeks but this is I think 95%of the job done .Lift rings, wipers and other small bits to do.
Next masking the windows and the paintshop at the weekend, maybe even finished next week, trips to Wales permitting

Really impressive scratch-building you're turning out there!
I remember you were saying you were going for non-Finnish paint job and markings?
When you're done with that basic APC version, will you build me an XA-202 command and signals vehicle?
I was on one when I was in the army.

"The Paddy Wagon"

Finished at last, this is one big beast!

Weathering was a bit tricky, every photo seemed to show gleaming white, like a toothpaste ad but muddy/dusty boots must add something but I tried to be restrained. Hope it works.I also tied to suggest constant repainting as National groups took over a vehicle, heavily chipping the grey undercoat then lightly spraying white over the top but to a shallower depth. Not too sure that worked out.She is not quite what I had hoped for but she will do.

Thank you eveyone for your kind words,Emeritus, sorry but my long summer vacation starting soon is full, with writing, work planning, something called personal development they have just handed me and my 3 weeks in Connamara.I do this for fun, if it's not fun I stop doing it and it would not be fun being commisioned. If you want to try yourself just PM me and I will ofer advice and a copy of the plans I used. Go on! you know the thing and it's not as hard as I make it look.

I was joking on the commission part.
I'm not sure if I'll be trying to build one anytime soon, but if you could kindly provide me with a copy of your plans, I would be most grateful.

Well done mate, best scratchbuilding I have ever seen, second to none!!

..I'm going off to sulk and be envious now cos I dont think i can scratch this one myself

John,

Dropped you a PM. Thanks!

Although I do have a bunch of photos by taken by several army mates, I somehow didn't take a camera with me and take walkaround set of pics of the vehicle I worked with. Now here's actually a reason to hope to be called to a refresher exercise!

Eetu,

Plans sent with my compliments and original credit and thanks to Roy Kinsella who got them for me.

You cannot go wrong if you study Thord Wedman's pictures and the Finnish set on Prime Portal.

I still have the mold for the SISU plate so if you need a couple just ask.

Now I have to get over to the Cold War campaign, think what to do for the UN campaign (sic) and stop

myself signing up for the NATO 60 one!!

regards

Thanks for the tips.
If and when I get around trying to build the thing, I'll have to look into it carefully, as the command vehicle is based on the newer XA-200 type (upgraged armor, vehicle not amphibious anymore, etc.), so there are numerous subtle differences.
IIRC, the hull was also lengthened (either on the XA-200, or the command vehicle specifically) to accommodate the added gear, including the generator used to power the comm equipment.

Hi All.
Have finally finished my submission. Here it is, straight out of the conversion squadron with a nice fresh camo scheme,,,

My STRV 103C

Camo wasn't as hard I thought it was going to be.

I enjoyed this build. This is only my third modern AFV. The Swedes seem to have been the only ones to use the suspension moving method of gun aiming. One rubbish thing I read reckoned that this was the first turretless tank.. Stugs don't have turrets. Neither do Su-85s etc. Think that was a bit wrong.
