Ok...Well the good news is we got all those posts back. The bad news is that the posts from part of Monday, and Tuesday and Wednesday are gone. I will take that. Better than loosing 6000 posts.
Sorry for the inconvenience for those who lost posts.
A much relieved,
Jim

Toni,
Well the long version is this:
1. Silly me I see a database in our files that I mistakenly think is a test database, so I delete it. The reality is that's it's the control database for all our admin db permissions. Ooops.
2. Mistake #2 - We embark on a fix for the above but neglect to get an up-to-the-minute database backup. We have one from the previous day (or so we think).
3. Mistake #3 - While fixing #1 my business partner accidently deletes the directory where the armorama database resides. Big Ooops!
4. Mistake #4 - When we attempt to restore the backup we discover it has not been capturing the entire database. Specifically it was missing about 7000 text messages from the forums. Bigger Ooops!!
Luckily for us our service provider was able to restore a backup from Late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning. :::whew::::
Let's say it was an adventure I would not like to repeat.
On the plus side though, this experience has us looking at better ways to back-up the site.

I actually was able to play a PC game last night (Empire Earth). Got my butt wamped.

I really like that game. Spent 4 hours modelling, my wife kept coming in to check on me, and make sure I hadn't fallen asleep in my dungeon. :-)

Sounds cool - but I'm woefully outta touch with gaming and don't know about it. The last thing I did was RPG in Twilight:2000 back in '86. Ancient!

They had computer games in '86??????
It's never too late to get back to video games. How about X-wing? Or TIE fighter?
I didn't get any modeling done last night. I had to work, yet again. It was raining last night too. Good- no customers. Bad- they don't pay retail guys to stand around a register doing nothing, they made me do mail-order...

Pre-computer (and still is I think) this was the Golden Age of 20-sided dice, ROCO AFV models (if you had them) and a tabletop with imagination to flesh everything else in.
Never had 'em either

... ...... ....Man, a lot of fans agree that TIE fighter is the best SW game of all time! A few years ago, PCgamer rated TIE Fighter 'the best game ever'. Another game would later take that title, 'Jedi Knight; Dark Forces II'. Man, we need to start a discussion on this!

WOW! What a time to try to quit drinking coffee! Its been a week since I had a fix of lifer juice. Yesterday was really a trying time to stay away from the pot, but this morning when I came in expecting to see a new post on the latest project and saw nothing but a wrech, well......... I had to go to the gym and get the frustration and the jitters out. Even went running for a couple miles. Jim DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN, if for nuthing but my health!!! Great job on getting us up and running.

Geez!! I can't be away from this site more than three days at a time!!! I like Chief was stupified by the lonely wrench...my wife finally whopped me over the head with a frying pan to get me to calm down
Glad it gets back up though...don't think my head could take another whack!
