Here's a link to a Utube tutorial on depth of field. This fellow sums it up really well. If you don't like hi approach there is many other people teaching the same thing, one of them might suit you better.

HI Bill and Wayne. The thing on the mantlet is a searchlight that is a SECDET 9 modification in the photos I've seen. I don't know about other rotations having this. Bill, I took my camera to a photo specialist shop here called Henrys and found out my point and shoot is not capable of F Stop or Aperture Priority. It doesn'teven have an aperture setting, he said those cameras are good but not produced for this special type of application. So, Ifelt if I was going to take photographing my models as seriously as I take building them I would need to make the investment of good equipment. So I did:
And I started to dial the camera in as per your and Miloslavs settings.
These other photos I fooled with the background and manipulated the light:
I like shooting on the dark blue material but most of my photos had the shiny blue swirl crap that I can't seem to avoid. Cheers, Jeff.
P.S. Yes Bill, I will definitely invest in a polarizing lens as well.

I see a bit of silvering under one of your Scorpion King decals, how did the rest lay down?
Now your talkin'. You'll get years of good photographs with your new Cannon. Your example pics are great, what can I say.
Congratulations
Bill

Bill , they seem to be staying down okay but they all sit proud of the model due to thier thickness. I think because the hull is still clear coated they glint in the light, I hope the matte coat covers them up. Yes, I think I will really enjoy my new camera. Cheers, Jeff.

Hi Miloslav, that's a real hi-tech photo studio you have there. Your models and photos are beautiful so a simple set up obviously works well for you. It seems the high end camera is the secret to good photos. I don't even have my Canon dialed in yet and the photos I took the day I bought it blew away any picture taken on the point and shoot camera. Cheers to improved photography, Jeff.

Hi guys, posting more camera expriment photos. This time though I gave the hull a MIG Productions Dark Brown pin wash and cleaned up the overflow when dry. It was then matte coated in Valejo Model Color 520 Matte Varnish which works beautifully. I am going to keep the weathering very subtle on this model so as to not hide all of the hard work put into the camouflage paint job, I hope it shows in the photos. Cheers, Jeff.

It all looks very nice, the pin wash and dull coat really brought it home. Too bad about the silvering on the nose decal.
Great photographs too, you must be proud?

Thanks Bill and Miloslav. Yes it is too bad about the spots that silvered on the decals Bill. I tried to poke holes in the silvered areas and get future under the decal but it would not take and I nearly destroyed the N. After the detail painting is done I Will spray very dilute Tamiya Buff for a lower hull dust coat and try to cover the silvered areas but not obscure the decals. If that doesn't cover I will use some MIG pigments on them. The model is together now for good and the next post I submit the model will be completed:
The car commander finished.
The turret with detail pinwash and matte coat.
The car put together. Almost done.
See you later. Cheers, Jeff.

Hi guys, I finished the build last night and am looking forward to moving on to another project. For me this build was involved and pushed me at times but I learned a lot and enjoyed it . Thank you to those who offered information on the vehicle, modelling advice and general support. Special thanks go to Bill Ritchie who was exceptionally helpful to me, I appreciate it. Cheers, Jeff.

You've done a beautiful job and you've come a long way from when you said,
You rose to many challenges with modelling and photography. I especially like the decals on the side bin's tarp cover, very nice. The only thing that draws my attention is the periscope anti laser coating on the turret. The red material seems to go too high, you should be able to see the metal frame around the entire lens.
So what next? ASLAV APC? With all this experience behind you now the PC should be a breeze. I look forward to your next project.
Regards
Bill

I am the equivalent of a hacker modeler but I love it and learn a little more and get a little better every time I get at it.
