The one problem I can see with this kit is the PE turret, where legends has made it easier to bend the front sections, those lines should not be there and thus will need filling or something.

I agree, perhaps the scribed lines are supposed to be on the inside of the fold? The PE looks a bit slight for the armour too or is mine just too fat?

The set comes with etch in varying thicknesses. That said, I would have hoped that the turret etch was a little thicker. Its take a little to flex it, but it still looks thin and out of scale.
Same goes for the gunshield.

Legends seem to show the scribed lines on the outside on all their pics, so whether the plates can be made with the lines on the inside face I dont know. Its not a hard mistake to fix, but it is obvious and rather annoying.

As for the thickness of the turret, it does look a little too thin, but then I think these things are always difficult for the manufacturer to get right, either it looks too thin or too fat. I dont think anyones going to loose any sleep over the thickness.

I went back and looked at the promo shots and the etched marks are on the outer wall of the turret, didn't notice that. Rob I think once everything is painted the thickness of the turret won't be so noticeable. I have myM1151 on it's way as we speak, can't wait.

I take a look for the kit thickness.

Due to pic the guner shield should be 0,25 mmm thick in 1/35. Legend give 0,20mm not really visible.

In real 0,20mm give 7mm.

So user from this OGPK give us the solution, but its sill a sensible information ?

Othervise the problem can be easily resolved with addition of a plastic sheet with appropriated thickness.

Now the scribed surface. I dont make a mistake, there is no solution to put it inside due to the windows implantation lines.

This surface can be filled later.

After looking at that pic, it seems this setup is not a thick as other ones ones, therefore the scale size could be appropriate. Close enough for me.

I think these shields must come in varying thickness, if you look at the second picture Pascal posted, the shields on top with the windows are of a thinner thickness to the original armor shield that they are mounted onto, just look below the window line and you will see the original smaller gunners shield with thicker walls.

I got Mine been working on it... but I've noticed alot of short comings on this conversion... course most of this is with the turret section an the roof door...

I'd have thought they'd have done better research on this...


any other thoughts from all you humvee nuts out there ?

I'll give LEGEND credit for even making this set. I personally like it, even with its shortcomings. Sometimes all one can do is go with the references available on hand. It is up to the guys WHO know what they are, to provide all us uninformed modelers of
a kits shorcoming. Now, Get on the ball and start showing us whats amiss with the kit.

Perhaps some one can tell me different but didn't they stop using the stamped "AM General" on the rear tail gate with the M1114? Could be wrong I hope so. No matter though with all the gear stowed back there you'll never notice.

I never notice that the AM General words disapear. I try to correct this, but its not very important , due o the presence of the spare wheel.

I try to buy the Rob CD for improving my turret interior.

Robert came to my rescue when I was struggling to make my turret, he's a very generous man and he puts together a worth while CD, worth every cent. I watch this thread daily, keep on with the great work.

Bill, thanks once again for the kind words and the heads up on Pascal. I haven't been on much lately, so have missed a lot. As for the HMMWV CD's, a few others such as Calvin have also expressed interest right now, but I have none in my possession. Unfortunately I took my Net Book instead of my laptop, so I don't have the capability to make more for a few weeks. Good news is that I still have a few CD's with me which include the M3A3 Bradley, armored HEMMT, and M1A2 SEP. Did yours make its way up there to you yet?

No worries and no CD. I think the postal service has to wait for the first snowfall to get the dog teams to bring the mail in. As with the last one, it will come eventually.

That was fast. Good use of the Blast (?) Rhino too, look very sweet. I can't see if the upper surfaces of the ram bumper has the anti slip diamond pattern sheet on it? You can see it in the photo attached.

Edit.I thought to myself that having the Rhino in front of the ramming bumper would make the bumper redundant but there a re lot of pictures with this combination.

Its a very nice set with more pieces than expected, but Ive got boxes made for everything already, you know? The p-etch is the dilemma though...thats a headscratcher.
