Can we maybe hope that Tamiya upgrades their Bradley like they did with the M1A2 TUSK II?

To avoid opening a new thread i plan to build an 1/35 M2A3 Bradley using the LF1175 Bradley ERA & M2A3 Conversion set of Legend productions which i believe contains both the ERA conversion set and the M2A3 conversion. Which do you think is the better kit to use for this attempt: The Academy M2A2 Bradley OIF (#13205) or the Tamiya M2A2 ODS Desert Bradley (#35264)? I have read that Academy kit is a copy of Tamiya with some errors resolved and contains some parts which are not included in the Tamiya kit, is that true? Which of the two do you suggest? Thank you in advance!

Hi
When I built the same combination I used both the Academy and Tamiya kits plus the Legend Conversion You can Pick up the Academy Bradley very cheap I found the Academy Kit had the lightning holes in the Drive sprockets plus a few other bits and peices check out some reviews and you will see for your self.
Cheers Ben.

Scott, that is totally awesome. I hope to grab this kit and needed resin/PE set to build one.
Btw, last week I saw one of the new Tamiya M1A2 w/ Tusk 2 for $72 + $32 s/h out of Japan. From what I can tell this will be expensive kit once it hits shelves here in the US.

The Tamiya Tusk is selling for around $48 plus $15 shipping from Hobbyeasy.. I stopped buying kits from Japan a long time ago.. even Tamiya is cheaper in Hong Kong!
But there's always some modellers who just can't wait to get it

Quoted Text... that also cools the drinking water as well as ...
Keith.
Keith,
Would have thought the Brit system would heat the water too. Gotta have that cuppa, right?
Cheers and Happy New Year,
John
The Warrior is already equipped with 2 BV's (Boiling Vessels). These plug in to the electrical system and can heat water and canned rations very quickly. They are fitted with a tap (spigot) and thus tea and coffee is on demand.
The Chieftain, and both Challenger's had and have them as well as the CVR(T) and Jackal and Coyote vehicles.
This system has been around for many years and a boilng pot was also fitted to the Saracen and Saladin's.
A simple yet very effective and welcome piece of crew comfort.
I apologise for staying off topic.
I do have both conversions from Legends and kits in my stash and will use them one day (I hope).
Keith.

OK, WW II guy here with an interest in modern AFVs.
If I get the Legend set and the Academy kit, is that up to current standards? In other words, what's the best route with the least amount of crying involved (other than price) for a good Bradley?

I have both the Blast and Legend sets. Both are nice, but neither accurately depict the frontal ERA arrangement seen in the first photo. It's going to take some old fashioned scratch building for that one.

Like Rob says, the Academy Bradley and Legend's A3 set will get you pretty close to a current M2A3 Bradley. There are still some small pieces you will have to scratch or modify, like the driver's viewer camera, but not too much. If you want t0 add the ERA blocks, I recommend the Blast Models set. It looks to be the best to me.

DVE (Driver's Vision Enhancement) from my build log. Lots of angles, but it turned out okay.

Well, Blast Models has it "deactivated" on their website, so I wonder where it could be found these days?

Keep checking back w/them. All "Deactivated" means is they are currently out of stock. It will be available again when they cast up some more.

You can also use their "stock alert" warning, it sends you a mail as soon as the item is available again
