Yeah, well....uh...so much for building one without any AM.

I have Academy's M998 Cargo/Troop Carrier, Armorscale's tires/wheels (the kit ones just don't look right), and Verlinden's M998 update set (mostly for the PE and maybe for the roof and doors).

i intend to make X3 of the uparmored DUMVEE's for a diorama but id figure id start with one to see how it turns out in case i F*** it all up i intend to try to make the HMMWV crew into modern SF guys using a ton of cutting and alot of sculpting and putty also to see how it turns out .

Mig makes a conversion set that transforms one of the Tamiya M1025 or 1046 kits (1:35 scale) into a M998. The kit get's good reviews so I have it under considereation.

BUT: The Tamiya kits are quite costly compared to the Academy kits of the same vehicles and seem to be a bit in short supply currently here in Germany. That's 15€ I'd like to spend on other modeling parts.

QUESTION: Are the Tamiya and Academy kits close enough that the conversion would fit an Academy 1025 or 1046 kit? Did anyone try that out already?

if i remember correctly any conversion for the tamiya kit is only going to work well on the tamiya kit.

In relation to your question about the possibilities of conversion kits being used on the Acadamy kit I just want to let you know the dimensions of these two kits are slightly different.
Among other differences the Tamiya kit is slightly wider than the acadamy kit. So any external features you intend to use for converting an acadamy kit might run into trouble unless you consider scratching..

Whats up all? Just wanted to let you all know that this Campaign will be approved however it will not start until 2010 due to the number of campaigns already in progress. Yeah, sorry about that. Things got behind here in Campaigns but it's getting straightened out now. How fast do you build? Your HMMWV qualifies for the MIghty Wheels 2009 campaign that is currently running to January 31.

Currently I'm thinking the Humming Along campaign will start in January. Although both the Miniart Dio and Matchbox Nostalgia campaigns also start in January, I am thinking there won't be as much overlap in interests as there would if the Abrams and HMMWV campaigns started at the same time.

well i remembered why i hate resin lol, it'll take me a little while im bout 30% done, this is my first conversion and first kit in about 5 years and lets just say it looks... ok lol.

There seems to be no complaints about a January start so that's what I'm going with. Campaign approved! Finally!

Great News! ..too many campaigns running this side of 2009 anyway, I've something to look forward to now in Jan 2010

I just caught this campaign. I just ordered the 1151 conversion so thats what I may use. I may also scratch build something totally different something never seen before. Like an uparmored 1151 gun truck with dual mini guns armed to the max! I just want to have fun with this since I never entered into anything like this before. Anyway sounds fun.

Im in with a Hamer palnat Using the Academy's Humvee TOW and AEF designs conversion for the IDF version.

Get ready Guys!!!! We kick off next week. I know i am ready!! Even warming up with a humvee right now......

For the M998 cgo/trp trnsport version you cant go wrong with the Academy M998 kit. I have built (2) before and I just got (2) more from the net for $9.98 ea. They make a very good base for other conversions as well. BUT STAY AWAY from the M1025 its a horse of another color. I didn't learn my lesson the first time and made the same mistake with another purchase of the same DOG. Oh well it sharpens your skills. The Italeri Commando 4 dr aint bad either.

For this one I'm building an Army Recruiting Hummer !!!! All BLACK with yellow trim, and army reserve and Army of one Decals. SHE"S A BEAUTY. And if Im quick enough I'll top it off with an M1114 scratch conversion.

Any Campaign Banner yet ? I don't know my way around a keyboard,so I'm just asking.

The cool thing about 1/72 it's that you need only 2 days to finish.
