Well it may not be the best and I know there are a lot of things wrong or that I might have done differently but I am calling this one done. I think it is okay for my first complete model after a 10 years absence. There are lot of first for me on this kit, PE, airbrushing, weathering and pigments. Learned a lot and now have a better idea of what to do next time.

@ Jan - congrats on the finish as you worked hard on that one
@ Jeff - it's a 1/48th scale Tamiya pzIV with the Formations (iron division) Stug IV conversion and some stug cavalier zimmerit modified to fit.

Thanks Greg.

It was more of a joy than a StuH 42 that I have been struggling with for months. As fate would have it , after posting and seeing the pics, I noticed a slight flaw at the antenna base. Fixed it after I posted to the gallery. Glad I caught it as I'm entering it in a show next month.
Cheers,

Hi Everyone,
I have managed to get some paint on my Stug IV, should be able to finish it by Monday and get it posted to the gallery. Here it is, not a specific vehcle, just a general camo scheme to fit in with my wargames army.
All the best and may the painting and finishing gods smile on those who have yet to complete,
Paul

Hi all,
Very nice to see all these kits getting finished!
@ Paul: Those are some very nice tracks you've got for your Panzer!
As for my build: I couldn't quite get the camouflage the way I wanted it to be, the filters and washes just didn't work out the way I wanted. So I decided the make the best of it and give it a worn out whitewashed look. I read that these Panzers were probably used in the fighting in Hungary in early 1945, so that would be my lead. After reading about several methods, I went for the hairspray method in combination with wiping paint of with a brush moisted with thinner. I tried to get the look of the greyish sludge (diry snow/ice/mud) on the running gear.

This is my first try at a whitewash, but I am quite pleased with the result. I need to do some detailed painting on some tools and touch up paint and weathering. Then I can take some pictures for the gallery and finish this campaign!
Greetings,
Max

Ha all,
@eMan: That's a very nice looking Panzer, great work! I guess our two entries next to eachother give a nice overview of the first and last versions of the Panzer IV!
So here are my final pictures. As stated in an earlier post, my workhorse is supposed to depict a Panzer IV J (late) in Hungary in 1945.

I had a lot of fun this campaign and learnt quite some things about the later versions of the Panzer IV. I also learnt some new skills, especially how to apply a worn out whitewash. Special thanks to Byron for extending this campaign, which allowed me to finish my workhorse!

Hi Max,
That's a 'cool' looking panzer, I can almost feel the cold coming off it. Well done, really fine paint job.
All the best,

Is that midnight Monday 28th? Because it will be 'down to the wire' with the Stug IV.
All the best and thanks for looking after a really brilliant campaign,
Paul

Here are some pics of my Pz IV F 1(F). I love the Box art so that is what I am trying to recreate. I put the gloss coat and decals on today going to give it quick wash and then a little weathering. I am really not into all that chipping and distressed look. Hope to have it finished in time will be very close.
The kit has been a joy to build had a great time with it. I would recommend this kit to anyone

@Fred: Nice looking Panzer IV F1(F). The tools are also very well done. Looking forward to see the washing and weathering completed.
@Paul: I saw in the gallery that you've already completed a Panzer IV D, is the StuG IV your second build?

Hi Max,
Yes it is, I signed up with the intention of doing both models, but the D took longer than anticipated. I will get the Stug done to fulfil my commitment. It is probably going to take most of today and half of tomorrow, but I'll get it done.
All the best,
Paul
