I am also interested in technicals, especially in African conflicts. The only problem is that I cannot find any kit of a ZU23 gun.
Now I saw you built a very nice tecnical with a ZU23 gun. Can you please tell me what brand it is, because it really looks nice!!!

The pegaso is a resin kit by the Spanish co. Nimix. Nice kit but as with most resin kits the instructions are a bit vague, still got some parts that i have no idea where they go, also has some pe instrument dials mudguards etc. Sorry cant remember where i got it from a few years back

The zu23 is an Eastern express kit with modelpoint barrels and some details. Azimut do a version based on this kit with some resin and pe details. Dont think the barrels are still available, got 3 sets off ebay a few years back, actually the ones on the m35 are bigger in diameter and probably 5mm longer, not sure which ones are the correct size.

Youve done it again how you find a youtube video of that fiat ill never know. I didnt know Somalia had any ties with France but I guess the Berliet could be Etheopian or Ugandan or from anywhere else in Africa come to think of it.
Found a photo of a right hand drive Hino truck loaded with troops not quite the same model as the 1/32 fujimi kit but close enough, i dont mind mixing the scales to much if the weapons are big enough not to look out of place.
Just got to find a twin 37mm aa gun or some plans, found plenty of pics so far but nothing i can really use to get the size somewhere near.

Youve done it again.
Looks like body panels are an optional extra in Somalia.
Iam thinking this one is a Berliet also.

This one is a Hino

From looking at as many pics of African trucks of a militia/army/civilian types it seems anything goes any age, any make/model and any physical condition with or without body work.

Another great set of photos 2,3,4 and 5 are new to me apart from 3 which is a pegaso dump truck and 5 which you id as berliet the others look civilian. No.3 is definately civvy.
Fujimi do a few small 1/32 trucks which would probably work as a similar vehicle to no.1. Ive got the canter but they also do a toyota dyna and a diahatsu.
All we need now is for someone to do a zpu1, 2 and 4, I know a resin zpu4 is in the works but wasnt ready when i emailed the company.
Still making something thats looks ok shouldnt be to difficult so i may well give it a go.

Brilliant, Frenchy those pics are fantastic,particularly the pegaso pics, only got one of those m35 pics everything else are all new.
Got to ask again where do you find them, i must be looking in all the wrong places.
Looks like iam going to have to get another pegaso .
Those big merc trucks get about a bit too.

Ive probably got 100s of photos of various technicals light to heavy mideast/africa/afghans etc but the supply of new pics seemed to have dried up until your tip resulted in a renewed supply of new pics.
A new search took me some youtube videos that have various clips and pics but i cant save the vids or pics, there must be a way.
Journeyman pictures do several dvd/video documentarys on Somalia that have some great clips, i think one is on youtube.
Thanks again for the tip and the photos youve posted.
By the way when i emailed the guy doing the zpu4 he said a zpu1 and 2 were possibilities but he wasnt sure when they or even the zpu4 would be available.

Nice pic of the French 20mm truck.
The first two unimogs are ex plo captured in Lebanon and on display at the Jaffa collection in Tel Aviv, seen those in person at the museum.
Got some pics of these unimogs from a few different angles , not the best as i took them about seven years ago with not a very good digital camera.

The third one was used by the S. African special forces, they also used stripped down landrovers and landcruisers, unit known as the pathfinders.
The last one is Rhodesian think they were black devils again not sure off the top of the head.

Ive got a couple of the tamiya 1/32 motorised unimogs and revll unimog with the intention of making one of the plo unimogs, unfortunately the chassis and wheels are completely different. Who knows one day may get around to it.
