hello !
I'm glad Holdfast allowed me till the 14'th of july to complete mu entry, because there it is !!!

This is the Miles Magister from the company Flashback.
It is in fact an Eduard product. This means that the plactic is nicely molded, the parts are well engineered, you get some PE and some nice decals !
Anyway, if you check the reviews on the site, you'll find the one I wrote.

During the BfB, many fighter pilots were lost. training the replacement pilots was of extreme importance !

My model portrays one of the planes used in august 1940.
right now, I'm turning my appartment upside-down to find the two small canopies... and it's driving me nuts !
So, right now, let's just say that the plane is being serviced and the canopies have been removed...

My model is far from perfect : a few gaps... defects in painting... and such...
but I'm glad ! And please remember that it's not a tam kit but a short run one (an easy one...).
So now, you must feel free to tell me anything about the model ! What do you like, what's wrong...
Sadly, I don't have a good pic of the cockpit. That's a pity because it's very nice.

and by the way : HAPPY BASTILLE DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, cool, what a nice different plane! Great work. Can you tell us more about this little plane, I totally have no idea about the existence of this one. Thanks Pen.

Congratulations on completing the campaign Penpen. Great paint job. Did you have any problems doing the yellow? I hate using the colour and avoid it like the plague In the last few days I've been pouring over my reference material looking for paint schemes of ME109s in the Battle of Britain that were flown later in the battle without yellow noses as I will be building one shortly. I've never yet managed to paint yellow without coverage problems. Any advice?

Nice one Pen Pen!! :-)

Beautiful job on the Magister. I must admit I started one, but never finshed it... This has inspired me to take a second look!

It's really refreshing to see one of the "minor" types modelled - it makes such a change from the usual "celebrity" aircraft!

You could probably make canopies out of clear sheet... or send for replacements and pretend they were missing in the first place...

Fantastic model - and a neat base. :-)

Hope you had a great time in Paris

All the best

Variety ahoy! I've never even seen pictures of that plane, much less a model. Thanks for broadening my horizons a bit!

The prop paint job makes for very convincing wood.

Dave, I'm sorry, I don't know much about the plane. All I know is that it was a rather light plane, built out of wood, for pilot training. This color scheme is the one used during the BfB. Earlier, they could be even more colorful : aluminium engine cowling and all the rest in yellow !
The plane could be used for VFR (flight with visibility) or IFR training (flight without visibility) by adding a hood over the rear cockpit.

Did you have any problems doing the yellow?

I did have a few problems, but they were because of my big sticky fingers. What I did for the yellow is : paint it first ! Then , I masked it and painted the other easier colors. the only problem is that once the yellow is painted, you've got to be very carefull not to dirty it because it's difficult to repair. But, if you work slowly, with light coat paints, there souldn't be a problem.

How do you rate the kit?

Well, I'd rate the kit pretty high, probably 8.5/10...
It's a short run kit, so it's not as straight-forward as tamiya.
But, it's an excellent quality short run kit ! the molding is very crisp and there's hardly any flash. If you've worked on old MPM kits, this one is miles ahead (pun not intended).
The realy great thing about this plane is the cockpit area. It's realy beautiful !
The panel sides are nicely molded, and you get the choice for the instrument panels : engraved plastic or PE plus film. if you're not afraid of PE (there's a bit in the kit) you can reproduce the "thingies" on the sides (flaps levers, power...), beautifull harnesses for the seats...
I've realy had a great time building the kit.
At the same time, I was building the defiant for the campaign (I still have to finish that kit) and this one flashed ahead because it was a pleasure !
