I will build the Leopold K-5(E) here, and upload a fresh picture as the build goes along.
Also I will start a Webshots album with all of the pictures, for everyone to go back and watch the progress.
UPDATE: 7/28/2003
The railroad trucks are kits in themselves.parts will be added all around these basic frames!

No RRB'ing the figure,he is just for scale.
And the webshots adress, look in the Leopold album.

I updated the picture at the begining. Those railway trucks are going to have to be treated as a kit in themselves.Alot of detail is molded in,I bet trumpeteer will make much of the coresponding detail,as seperate pieces. (++) (++) (++) (++) (++) (++) (++)

I finally saw one of the big railroad guns at my favorite LHS. GEEZE that's a big model. The BOX is bigger than my workbench. My bank account is thankful I don't have any interest in building the thing. I wouldn't know where to display it even if I did.

Come on Halfyank, join the darkside, but a K5. I plan on working it slowly and in very small incriments. I think I'd gert bored doing it in long stretches...

I bulit the Karl a few weeks ago. As Porkchop says, it did get boring, just not enough detail 'cos it was sooooo big, and not a lot of AF add-ons around then either. This one isn't big....it's HUGE! Bet it looks fantastic when it's finished with the rail carriages though! Keep us all posted TankCarl!

Looking great so far ... Mr. tank "builder of huge vehicles"carl
Im jealous ...... havent seen the kit here in Sweden yet. The wife promised to buy it for Xmas for me this year! I havent been as tempted by a kit for a long time! Are those the kit supplied railway tracks under the back wagon?

This in my opinion this is where good painting and weathering skills get tested to the full! Big open areas like this can be made a lot more interesting when finsihed well. For me thats where the size is delightful!
This day (thursday) in exactly 20 weeks is xmas day .... and counting!!

Gents, this kit is HUGE in 1/35th. Box is big, kit is big, and it has lots of goodies. We could only get one in stock. My supplier was out of stock, but I managed to snag 1 Leopold as I had it on pre-order. Kit comes with PE, 6 crew figures, and decals by Cartograf. Even has a section of train track and embankment for display. I'm wondering now what the Trumpeter version will have to offer ?
Good luck on the Leopold !
Cheers

I NEVER build German vehicles, hardly anything inspires me enough to want to start anything German, HOWEVER, the threads on the Karl have got my fingers itching to take a go at one. I don't know whether to thank you guys or curse you for awakening an interest in rail-guns which I admit has been slumbering for years... My only problem is the size of the beast, I honestly don't know or can't begin to imagine where I could possibly find space for it, or at least how I would begin to smuggle it into the house under the eyes of the ever-vigilant Mrs Rae.. perhaps I'll settle for the equally impressive Morser and take it from there...
On a more serious note, is it true someone is doing a metal gun-barrel as a an addition for this beast? Or did I dream it?...Jim

Paint.
Well so far I have used about 1,the Model Master panzergrau,1939-1942.
I expect 4 would be pretty close to accurate.
