Ah crap!

I'll try again. This is a build progression from the 'Paint Those Troops' campaign just to get people's creative juices flowing!

Russian hooligan & Middle Eastern Terrorist:

The sections I used:

After plenty of butchery:

The secret to any conversion: Milliput:

Base colours:

Final product: Croatian civilian volunteer, Vukovar, 1991:

I'll be doing something completely different for this campaign. The Croat figure just took a bit of patience, loads of filing and a fair bit of milliput.

I've a more detailed walk through the build in the post above where all you got to see were red X's.

I have a questions: does the imporvements similar to those which I've done in these figures LINK count in this campaign? I mean some additional sculpting, adding stripes, changing weapon or equipment to the figures provided by the producer.

Thanks, Gary!

@ Michal; any conversion counts, as long as it is not a completely new sculpted figure.
You can add gear, weapons etc. or make them yourself. Do what you feel comfortable with and maybe go just one little step further... You have to convert the figure to something else than what it is supposed to be.
Just swapping a helmet for a fieldcap isn't enough. It should be a bit more of a challenge!

Hi Ron,
I have some figures that I made 2 years ago when I 1st got back into modeling, before I learned from you guys here how to actually build a model This StuG IV Commander is in desperate need of an up grade
Photobucket
I wont be changing his shape but the seams will be removed and filled
Photobucket
And he will get new paint job.
Would that type of upgrade qualify here because I have more like him(sorry to say)

18 days until we start this campaign, right? So far it looks I can finish my MUTT just in time to start working on the figures.

Count me in for this campaign too. I need to convert some figures to crew my M7. I've already done one, and need five more.

I also have a whole mess of soldiers and paratroopers to convert for a big semi-insane project I'm planning on undertaking.

@ Sal; Just repainting the guy isn't enough, Sal. Give him another head, change an arm, maybe a different torso. Anyhting that changes your figure.
@ Sean; what figures will you be using for your Mutt?
@Ed; this one looks good already!

Just a few more days till kick-off!

Hello gents,

Ihave two project I've started, and this campaign could be the kick in my ass needed to finish them. I guess March is a sufficient time frame for my laziness.
So Either I go for white russian figure converted from miniart several sets, or I go for paratroopers from dragon a little bit enhanced. I post pictures soon so that you can chose for me.
Best,
Julien

I am looking forward to start this campaign as well.

I will go through my old stash of Tamiya figures from the 1980'ties and upgrade them with new heads, equipment, weapons etc.

I am planning to make a small tank hunter team from the Eastern front, but I have not decided yet. Depends on how the conversions go.

I'm in as well.

I need to convert two different figures for two different campaigns that I am in so this will be perfect. I need to convert a Tamiya motorcycle rider for the "Modeling a photograph" campaign and a Tamiya German soldier for the "Sniper II" campaign.

Should be fun.

I'm building from a photo. I intend to make US Army MP's in Viet Nam in 1967 or 68, and the closest I've found is Dragon's US Marines at Khe Sahn 1968. I admit not knowing the differences in uniforms between Army and Marines in 1968, but I have looked into what extras the Military Police would wear.
I'll post my mandatory starting photo in September, coming up!
Thanks,
Sean.

Ron,
No problem I was thinking about giving him a new arm holding a pair of binos. I also have these 2 guys that I took off an SdKfz.251 that I will turn into infantry riders for a Stug IV that I just finished overhauling

Gentlemen!
Tomorrow is the kick-off!
I'll be joining in a day later, because I'm on my way home tomorrow.

@ James; any figure goes, as long as it's in 1/35 or 1/48.

great campaign idea that will be very useful to many.

question to clarify something: i am doing a conversion of one figure for a diorama that is perfect for this campaign but for the second entry the other figures will not have as much done.

will my second figure qualify if all i do is add upgrades to a resin figure (such as helmet straps, weapon straps and change the original resin rifle for a better Dragon one?

thanks in advance for the response. cheers, mh.

Hi Ron I was going to use this guy as one of my two figures for the campaign
EsciWagonDriver
Esci Wagon Driver
The box says 1/35 but he's way over scale and I was going to use Airfix multipose arms and head and weapons to fix him up which will make the finished figure 1/32, is that cool or do I need to pick some other figure?

Hi guys,
I have been going through the spare parts box and came up with some new arms and I should have some build time tomorrow afternoon to get started.
The Stug Commander will get a new arm holding a pair of binos. The Infantry guy with the binos will get the proper equipment, and will be holding an MP-40 in his new arm. The other infantry guy will retain his MG-44 but I may put the MG leaning on top of the Stug and put a stick grenade or panzerfaust in his new arm
Well thats the plan for now I'll add some progress photos when I start. These guys were in some sorry shape and really needed some repair
