Hey folks, decided to drop by my LHS and looky looky
I'm gonna build this one straight OOB as a display at work as most un-trained eyes will recognizing it as a LAV III regardless of the level of detail LOL.
cheers

Pretty cool. Must be the new, stealthy urban combat version of the LAV III.

I grabbed one too from the LHS last week for shucks and giggles, same idea to build it OOB and give it to a friend since I have the Real Model conversion already (I WILL build it some day, Miloslav!)

i look forward to the reviews (the more the better as each person sees pros and cons differently IMHO) and how easily this kit can be put together OOB. nothing like a new kit fresh from the LHS. cheers, mh.

I'll be doing a review for Armorama as soon as the kit arrives.
The more reviews the merrier! I'd like to see as many perspectives on this kit as possible so I look forward to both reviews.

This one will be built OOB, honest !
Although I think I will see if the Real Models PE set for their LAV III conversion will fit...
Actually found a few minutes to sit at the workbench today and got all of step one finished with no issues. Trumpeter supplies a front driveshaft but the rear is molded on to the lower hull
There is a large slot that the tie downs fit in to. I just dipped the part into some putty and wipped some thin cement to flatten the bond
cheers

Rick
I think a big tie down to be in a horizontal position and a small additional armor to be shortened. It is a small error.
Tell me please, if the model contains the blast panels to the rear of the vehicle.

You mean the ones for the Tactical Trunk Monkey? Nope.
There are none for the turret either.

Got some more time for the build today and finished steps two thru five. Everything went together well with no real issues, the wheels even sit on the ground fairly level

Hey Sauce,
Keep the updates coming. I just got home, and this kit just showed up as well. I need to finish my RM Coyote first though.
Wish I had taken photos of 99tac :/

Hi guys,
Finished mine last night.Your right Milo,I noticed too that the tie downs should be horizontal.I had some issues with the build, mainly with the instructions,Trumpeter has a bad habit of showing the assembly of some parts on the oppoisite side of of the view your looking at.Off hand the upper hull was a bad fit I had to shave a bit on the lower to make it fit correctly. The main gun doesn't lock into place so you have to play with it a bit while it dries. The machine gun mount can also be a bit of a pain.
All and all when finished it's a nice kit. When I get back to it for weathering ,etc.I can give you more info.

Rick, keep your pics coming on!!
I'm building mine right now, and agree with Miloslav about the tie-downs, but have had no problems either with the instructions or with upper and lower hull mating.
The worst job was making the front wheels and suspension parts steerable...
Still have to go for turret assembly and minor parts and details.
All in all, it seems a nice kit to me, with some issues but can be built in a good looking model, even not up to RM standards, of course...

Thanks fellas,
I've been busy tracing down an electrical gremlin in the car so not much time for the workbench...
But I have had time for some preliminary tests with the Real Models LAV III photo etch.
So far the side bins seem to work...
You can see the difference in the tie down loops.
The rear blast shields won't work as the angle of the top hull at the rear hatches is different between the RM and the Trumpy kit.
RM kit
Trumpy kit
Angles are all wrong on the Trumpy kit
The actual LAV has the shallower angle as per the RM kit.
cheers

I almost bought the kit today, but seeing the kit needs more work than needed, passed on it. I will stick with REALMODELS.....

Hey Rick
How is the union between the RM parts and the Trump chassis? Since before all you really needed was the chassis from the AFV Club Stryker (plus some other minor bits)... is the Trump kit atleast suitable to use with the RM parts in replacement of the Stryker kit??
Think you can show us some pictures??
Thanks in advance!
Carmen
