lol Matt,,i went thru my pile of kits and thought which had the most sprues and i found this one
Been looking at the plans and i am surprised that even tho theres alot of parts its not like theres hundreds of small time consuming pieces which i am liking alot ..nothing annoys me more with kit building then spending 5 days putting on hundreds of small parts and still it dont look like you've done anything ,,least this is going to be a good build

Seconded.
Good to have you on board Jim, that is an interesting subject looking for ward to seeing more of your build.
Tojo-12 nice start to your build it should be a nice build when it is finished.
Phil, nice choice on the dana it is an impressive beast! I would love to build it but I just don't have the space for it

.
I have scored a bargain I piked up these 2 ICM Ural trucks on eBay for £3.50 each so I am going to build them for this campaign.

Scott if you think you got problems with space i just spent about an hour this afternoon moving models around to make space for this beast lol ..but still wasn't enough so i built a new shelf instead and now i got room for more
Just glad i dont have any other large models to be built at the moment .. that could lead to real problems i think hehe

Well, here is my entry for the "Strictly OOB Campaign":

The last time I built an aircraft of any type was back in 1989 as a senior in high school. I picked this as it has enough detail for a big aircraft without having to add anything aftermarket. That and
c5flies can't be the only one doing one of those wingy things!
Sorry for the standard box top photo. I left my camera on and completely drained the battery. Obligatory inside photos later tonight.

Most of my finished builds live in boxes under beds and in cupboards..
Matt, nice choice looking forward to seeing more.
After an afternoons work this is where I am at.

The kit goes together fairly well, had a few minor issues with fit and some flash besides that it is very good.

Blimey Scott, that's going together fast!!
I was pretty chuffed with the progress I've made on my M1 A2 but it's decidedly pedestrian in comparison. I was going to post a progress shot, but I've also got a dead camera battery.
Some great subjects appearing, looks like this is going to be another really interesting campaign

I feel your pain mate, was looking after a friends wee boy not so long ago he was sleeping in the spare room where my work bench and models are, I was woken up to the sound of things hitting the floor!! Thankfully there was not to much damage done.
So yes you can change to the pink panther it is no problem at all, the same rules still apply tho.

Ouch!! That's never a good moment, I also feel for you John. I recommend a good strong lockable display cabinet - to keep the kids in! But they do say one man's loss is another man's gain, and I must admit I'll be really pleased to see your Pink Panther build. This was one of my very first 1/35 builds some 30+ years ago, and also one of the first kits that I made a half decent job of (which in those days meant it actually got painted!). Re your deceased Shermy, Modelzone in Southampton had a pile of those in their bargain bin, do you want me to see if there are any left and if so check the price?
I'm really happy with the progress on my Abrams. I think it really is one of Revell's best 1/72 armour kits, there are virtually no fit problems and it goes together so quickly that it almost seems to build itself. I'd say the only tricky area is fitting the turret cage together, which took quite a lot of this evening, but seems to have ended up looking okay...

Cheers to all!

Haven't given what to build much thought as I just finished up an OOB build for the All American Tracks campaign. Right now I'm working on a detailed M3A1 Stuart by Academy for the 2012 Noreastcon. Yeah, I know I plan early, but I've got several categories I'm interested in entering. After all, this will be my 1st IPMS regional or for that matter any contest in more then 30 years.
Once I finish the Stuart, I'm going to concentrate on this campaign build. My choices are down to a M7 Priest, a M5A1 Stuart, or a M51 Isherman.

Hi Joel I built the academy M3a1 couple of years back nice little kit but if your going for accuracy I believe the interior is wrong for that vehicle. like to see a M7 built what one you got academy or Dragon.

I've gathered from the reviews on the M3A1, that the interior was more fiction then fact, so I decided to try and do it right, or at least so it looks right. So far I've corrected the the main bogie's, and the Idle wheel arms.
Just started the interior with a new rear bulkhead, and what looks like duel radiators. Did some plumbing to busy it up some. Since the judges will view the interior from the open front hatches, I've temporarily installed the turret basket to get a feel for what you can see and what you can't.
I wasted a few hours building a differential housing only to discover that you can't see it once the interior is closed in. Chalk that one up to stupidity. I have a build thread going in the constructive feedback forum if your interested in following along.
The M7 Priest is the mid production version by Dragon. It's a front runner for this campaign, and also slatted for one of the OOB categories at the 2012 Noreastcon.

Those hatches are huge. Still the turret basket really interferes with a lot of viewing, but there still is just enough to make it interesting, and give me some points with the judges.
I was very satisfied with the modifications I did to the bogie's and idle arms.
All of this is so new to me, that just about anything is an adventure. Believe me, I'm really looking forward to finishing it, and starting my OOB build.

Well, the weather in California last week had me hopping at work like a barefoot girl on a hot tarmac, which worked out ok as it gave me a chance to order some RLM paints. At first I was going to 'wing' it and mix my own colors, but sanity took over as I had no idea what the colors actually look like
Anthony, this kit looks great in the box...hopefully I won't mangle it up too much.
Matt, great to have another wingman!
Looks like an interesting selection of kits being built by everyone.
Got a little done this weekend...
Step 1 involves the cockpit with lots of little doodads to paint. Here's the sub-assemblies and pieces pre-paint

RLM 02 for the interior as per Rowans recommendation in his review, with a little color added to brighten things up

Next up a quick 'weathering' and then get the fuselage together.
