After my 1/48 diorama
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/162754&page=1
I come back to the 1/35 with the prime mover for my 155 mm gun GPRFT
The link to the gun
I'm going to modify the resin model of DES Kit. I' m going to improve the transmission and I modifie it to get workable like the real Laffly.
The job is hard and difficult. You must cut the original piece in 5 different parts. Then you have to create the workable arms.
Here you can see à S45 Laffly (the same mechanics but bigger):

Here is the original piece from the DES model :

Hi Patrice. Great work getting the suspension to articulate. Hopefully weŽll see a base some day to really show off this. YouŽre off to a great start already. Will be following this thread.

That's a nice looking suspension assembly. Sounds like you've got a challenge ahead of you, but that's what makes it interesting. Looking forward to your next update.

Thanks Jeremy. I agree with you.The suspension was not easy to do but the more difficult is to open the cab... That's really boring but the challenge is very interesting ...
For the moment the breaks are over and, for me, it looks good.
Next photos for sunday.

Next step
The front half-axes are rebuilt and the direction system too.
The rear suspensions are now workable.
The result. For me it's OK. I got what I was looking for : the typical Laffly behaviour in cross country.
Your comments will be welcome (If you are interest by this specific french subject of course! )

Hi all!
I'm still working on my Laffly S35 (DES Kit).
The cab, with a lot of modifications done (opening the 3 doors and nex mud guards made in an offset plate).
There is again a lot of things to do ... but the more difficult is done now ...

Some excellent work so far. The suspension by itself should really bring life to this model and the cab seems to be going well. Can't wait to see what's next.

Great work Patrice. I have the kit and although I'm not planning to detail it to that extend, I will surely use your build as a reference.
Bonne continuation.

Thx Fred. If thoses photos can help you it's a good thing and I'm happy of that.
If you want to wait some months, I will put a article in my E-magazine which is in french but in english too (I'm not the translator:_|) . I will explain all the modifications needed and how to correct the excellent DES model.

I answer you in english, because we are not on a french forum ... question of politeness.
So ... yes it's an old model that I build direct from the box for military-kits to show to beginners that a resin kit from Des can be build very easely.
Now I rebuid this model to show what can be done to upgrade the model of Maurice Des for another result with mor works.

The never ending story ... some new steps of my laffly S35 ...
The differents elements are not glued of course. The roof will be glued after the interior painting of the cab.
A lot of modifications were done but the differents parts we not altered and the adjustements are still ok.
the opened doors give a new look to this resin DES kit of the S35 Laffly ... I'm happy to see the result ...
it was a great challenge but it seems to be ok now.
There is still a lt of modifications to do and details to add before painting but the more difficult is done.
I hope you will enjoy this french vehicle of the second world war.

She's a doozy, Patrice. Great to see you took the time and patience to lay the foundations for a real gem. You make me wanna start collecting reference about this thing (maybe that's because I'm a sucker for french WWII vehicles).
Keep it up. This build deserves it

- Fred, yes, I'm planing a diorama. The wheels did notcontact the ground because they are ready for the diorama.
- ben. Thx! I'm not sure that it will be a "gem" ... there is a lot of works to do and I'am happy to see that you will be interest in french model of mai-june 1940.
I' had some photos of a S35 used by the french forces in may-june 1940 then used by german forces and, at least used by US troops in Normandy (I leave in bayeux near Omaha beach).
I'm very dissapointed to see that there is not a lot of plastic models of the french vehicules which where used on all fronts in western - eastern of course but in asia too like Indochina by the japaneses forces for example ...
The first step of painting ... just dark shadows for the moment ...
Hope you will enjoy it.
