Though not a tank model, the BA-20 from BUM (Barcelona Universal Models) is/was the worst kit I have ever had the displeasure of attempting to build. It sits in it's box awaiting the day I have another go.

For fit and ease -NOT!- of assembly Zvezda's T60
For accuracy and fidelity of detail Tamiya's old Panther A, but the fit is fine..
it just has the WORNG NUMBER OF ROADWHEELS...
sorry, I must have been channeling Sam Kinneson for a moment there..

Aftermarket nomination, anything old AEF (IDF TOW jeep.. blech!) or Verlinden..Panther 'update' my arse.. whatta joke!

Don't know what happened there, I was typing then all of a sudden, it went right back to the forum! Anyways, Mad Max a Napalm Death Fan! sweet! My worst kit isn't military, but a friend gave me an old Airfix 1/32 scale car. Well, it was the worst piece of plastic I have ever seen. The body was warped, nothing fit, tons of flash, and just plain horrible. I started it, and then promptly tossed it. Never built an Airfix kit since. Although I have a 1/72 Stuka kit from them to do somewhere down the road.

Not exacly a tank but an AFV. My worst was the SCUD (my first AFV project). It has ill fitting parts. A lot to do. Also, it is just 50% done and I can't do it now cause the darn schooling.

Ditto the Zvesda T60, one of the only kits I've thrown out without even a token atempt to build it. As far as aircraft, same goes for the SMER S/M 79 Italian bomber.

My good Friends--the worst kit ever made by man is the Jaguar Sheridan. It cost me a bundle and is not worth ten cents. The instructions are totally useless, the track is impossible, the parts are either not numbered or done incorrectly and the hull is a disaster of needless complexity. It sits in a box in the model area where I daily go by it and say "do I really want to continue trying to build this one?" The Gunnie also has it and I am awaiting his announcement that he finished it. Haven't heard anything yet.

Didn't know you were waiting!

Ditto - the Jaguar Sheridan is the worse because of all the tempting detail and dreaming you have when you open the box melts away in the dismal way it goes together. The tracks and road wheels shouldn't be mentioned in the presence of young children.

DJ - I did finish my Sheridan though! I encountered a couple of Sheridan vets who helped me out with stories about their mounts in Vietnam. One in particular was so kind as to send me personal photos of his - I sent him a motorized Tamiya Sheridan in appreciation. He was pretty jazzed to get the Tamiya version. Perhaps he got the better end of the deal! Glad I've got another...

I haven't posted pictures here or on my own site because I want to go back and rework some details I saw in his photos to make my Sheridan a bit more "homey"...

oy,
My first try at braille scale was some 1/76 Airfix models- a Panther and a Skdfz. 222 (I think) -I didn't have the patience to fix bent barrels, etc. Was not at all impressed by the kits.
I admire those modelers who have the patience and skill to work up those 1/76 kits nicely-
for braille scale I've found the wonders of Revell AG -wow!!!!!! it's like night and day to me comparing the Airfix to Revell.

I hate the Italeri LVT's. For some reason I have just found them to be the most infuriating kits I have ever had my hands on. From the impossible and stiff tracks to the wimpy detail to the miserable MG's and mounts, I was upset about these.

Too bad too, because at some point I just have to have bite my lip, buy expensive aftermarket, and build a Water Buffaloe as it would have appeared on Saipan in '44.

I like the italerie/zvezda kits except the t-34/76 obr 1943, most of my kits are tamiya or italerie

I think worst kit should be the russian armored jeep, the GAZ-64 or -67, made by some god-awefull company that I think has expired, thankfully. Lets just say I was surprised it had all 4 wheels...

The RPM TKS is quite a pain, but it WILL build up with lots of love..

And I HATE the old AEF stuff, I bought a 2S1 in the mid-90's...worthless.

I like the Italeri LVT's, but I have had NO problems with the tracks. I have replaced the MG's with the Verlinden quick sets, the ones that have 4 guns per package for about US$8...good deal. I know the mounts for the interior benches area pain,a nd the benches are post-WWII, but it can all be dealt with ok.

Nitto or Blue Tank hanomags or anything else. Total crap, if I remeber the names of the companies correctly. I have tried to erase all memory of these kicks with large doses of Budweiser.

Was that Squadron/Encore's Polish Wz-34 Armored Car? That one (my example) was poo-poo in the box...

Alright, all you RPM nay-sayers! You've poked and prodded me to finally start on one of my TKx little AFV-wannabies.

Look for progress in the Rivet Review column!

Generally, I haven't run into any "bad" armor kits. Some were "accuracy challenged" like the early Tamiya stuff. Luckily they have upgraded the vast majority of those, though an accurate Sheridan and M-60a2 would be welcome. Right now, I'm having trouble trying to finish (motivationally) a 48th scale Fujimi FW 190-D. I've also had a ton of crappy automobile kits (which is probably why I never really got into those)

Hey guys, Thats why I like to make dios not stand alone kits. It gives you the chance to take a piece of crap kit like the Zvenda T-60 and hide alot of its flaws with weathering and snow. Its fun taking a cheap kit and making something out of it.

Also great kits to experiment on, because if you screw up your only out a few bucks
