Hi everyone,
I recently finished this kit. I used the Lion Roar PE set and added a few details by myself. I tried the hair spray method for the first time and have to say it is a cool technique. Gear and other stuff still has to be added. I will do that ones the vehicle is set on the diorama base. I am planning a scene in the ardennes.
Any comments are more than welcome!
Nice weekend to all of you!
Heli

Looking good here Steve. I would make sure to include some muddy footprints on the interior floor plates to reflect that muddy ground that is represented by the excellent weathering on your treads and tracks. Looking forward to seeing this in the dio

I like what you've done with this one.
You don't see American half tracks in winter cam that often, nice job.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the comments!
Sal, yes, the ammo is PE (lion roar set) pretty fidgety to assemble, as every single link has to be bent to shape but in the end a real nice gimmik.
The pant job wasn't very easy to do as a lot of masking had to be done. Some parts had to be painted first and then assembled. In the end though it worked out quite pleasing.
There will be only one vehicle on the diorama, I am currently working on the figures. The idea is, a reconnaisance squad is driving by an abandoned german machine gun nest, collecting a few souveniers. I have to admit, I didn't put very much thought into the scene up until i finished the vehicle. Since I didn't want to do a combat scene, the idea with the "souveniers" sounded ok to me.
Let's see how it turns out.
Thanks again!
Hope you all have a nice Sunday!

What a beauty! I would suggest bringing some of the mud colors into the rear open area. Some of this mud/dust would probably end up being carried in on feet and equipment.

Hi,
Yeah, some muddy foot/shoe prints will be added to the interior and some of the exterior parts (where people get on and off)
Absolutely correct that this would make it a lot more realistic.
Best,
Heli

Great winter whitewash Steve! Have a Panzer 1 that I'm planning on doing a similar scheme for and have started looking at techniques, may just have to give the hairspray one a try! Thanks for sharing your work!

really nice Heli. I'm currently doing a winter paint job on a T34. I'm going to use toothpaste to remove some of the top coat. Hope i get a great result like you did. RONNY.

Hi Stan,
Well, the mud was created using sifted soil (for flowers) I then mixed it with watered down wood glue (watered down so it wouldn't harden too quickly) and added pigments until I reached the desired color tone. I used three different tones, the really dark tone is just the sifted soil without any pigments. I applied this mixture with an old paint brush. After everything was dry I applied Tamiya clear gloss with a brush.... done.
I hope I was able to help.

Very nice looking build. The whitewash is excellent. May I suggest throwing some snow on the tracks? This will really help to push the winter environment home.
