hi Stan ...don't think it's a rule but it was just to show that the kit hadn't been started before the start date...no big deal ..now get building!

I will be starting shortly as my bench required a clean up for the holidays. I model in the kitchen at my breakfast counter!

Question for all you knowledgeable folks here: The Tamiya Tigger 2 represents what production variant? and should it have zimmerit? Were there that many variations of the KT in it's production run?

BTW Partly cloudy and 65 F here today. It will be darn near 70 all weekend.
That's the reason I moved to the desert, Viva Las Vegas!

Hi Wayne ... Kingtigers are not like the Tiger I there were no real monster changes but more of an evolution...I'd say Tamiya's Tigger can easily be made into an early all the way up to the point of changing the tracks, sprokets and adding of the more rigid front fender (even those can be scratched with a bit of work...) Things like zimmerit are needed for the earlies or if you want a bit later you have to leave off the jack and jack block, adding the overflow tubes etc.. So just find a picture of which KT you want to build and go from there..Once you know which time frame you want to build then I and others can help with the little details ...(fan covers and stuff) It's good to go for an Ardennes KT ..)

Have fun with it!

Got a bit done this week . I added some casting marks to a few parts ..

Then changed the weld beed on the side of the turret (Dragon used a late turret to measure this and it shorter on the early turrets about a milimeter was cut back)

I added the suspension and cut off the pins to make the suspension workable ,but to be sure of the ride height I left the front and the back arms with the pins in place...

I filled all the holes for the exhaust covers and a few other things and cut down the pins that hold the starter plate which are about a mm too long ..

I sanded and gouged the rubber tires and also changed the U in ContinentaU into ContinentaL easy work with a sharp exacto blade..also drilled a few holes in some of the rims to show damage from the anti-tank rifles...

I added some light arms fire damage to the turret box...

Also made the cut outs for the pistol port and the escape hatch ..

And that's it for now ... Most of these improvements are mentioned on David Brydens great site , It's really worth a look!

Hi Kiddo! Thanks for the comment and I`ll check my references to see if I can spot any casting numbers for you ...Glad to hear I could convince you to do a hard edge finish on your KT ..It`ll look awesome I`m sure.

Thanks for the comment Agent G!

Nah, I'm still looking at the contents in my KT box. Still have to knock out two other campaign entries, then I'll be good to go.

Nice details, Richard. It will really add realism on the finished kit.

Here's the general plan. The build is done except I'm going to replace the barrel with one from RB Model.

Hi Greg ...looks good but just one thing... The figure on the left is wearing a U boat leather uniform which was only used (in armor) by SS troops. the 505th was an army unit.

Sal: Just mount the wheels on some toothpicks or something and stick them in something soft like foam so that you can shoot them with an airbrush or rattle can. Or you can use a pair of pliers or clamps to hold the toothpicks while you hand paint the wheels.
