In order to encourage as many people as possible to enter this campaign it is going to be broadened to cover every model genre from armour, boats, and planes to figures, space craft, and cars. I will be making a post linking to the sign up page as soon as it is available on every one of the KitMaker sites in order to really maximise the number of interested parties. There will be one rule change to the age requirement and that is that any one taking part must be 17 or under at the time of signing up.

I will also be asking the staff and members of all the KitMaker sites to look in on a regular basis to encourage and assist the people taking part with any questions that are bound to crop up. There will be some awards at the end of this campaign, more information on that will be posted soon.

I haven't done any tweaking of the ribbon. Here it is at the actual 50x20 pixel size.

Starting shortly on Armorama will be a campaign called the next Generation, it is open to all members who are 17 or under at the time of signing up to the campaign. In order to complete this campaign you will need to build a model of a plane, boat, space ship, car, or armoured fighting vehicle. The model must not be started until after the start date and completed within a six month period. You are requested to post up your progress in a specific thread which will be running on Armorama, and members who are not entering are requested to look in on the thread and give your support and help with any questions that come up. When your entry is complete you will need to post a completed picture up in a gallery set up specifically for this campaign.

At the end of this campaign there will be some prizes for the best entries in two categories, these categories are;
Rookie, those members who are new to the hobby or with less than a years experience.
Veteran. A member who has been involved in the hobby for over a year.
The KitMaker Network and its staff have supplied some prizes for this purpose, and is also being supported by Iain Hamilton of AK interactive USA.

Here is a link to sign up for the campaign.

Members who have a family member of the right age group to enter this campaign, and who may or may not be a member of the KitMaker Network are requested to bring this campaign to that person’s attention for their consideration.

Russ I would prefer if they had their own accounts due to posting up pictures in the gallery and the like, unless there is a reason you are not happy to do that.

I should add for the information of all that everyone who completes this campaign will get something from AK interactive and/or AK interactive USA that no one can buy. More information will follow when everything is set regards this, and that is on top of the prizes that are being arranged by the KitMaker Network staff.

Darren, great idea. My 8 year old boy Josh is keen to join this campaign, but do you want an 8yo to have his own account, or can he enlist under my account ?

For those interested, here's a thread I started over on Aeroscale that got a few hits kids and models

Damian I would prefer all of the people taking part in this campaign to have their own account. My reasons for this are that the awarded ribbon is for their own efforts, and that the whole point of this campaign is to encourage their participation in this hobby to continue and grow. I understand that some members will be wary of putting their kids out there, but this site has to be one of the safest environments for them to be let loose with parental guidance.

Thanks Darren. I don't have a problem with Josh having his own account here, he will get loads of support and encouragement for sure. I just wasn't sure if admin had set a minimum age limit (as there are on some other forums).

Cheers, D

Damian I look forward to seeing what Josh comes up with and to my knowledge there is no age limit in place for becoming a member.

Darren, I just tried to set up an account for Josh and got a bold message that you need to be at least 13 years of age to become a member.

Maybe Josh will have to enlist under my account ?

I have asked Josh what he would like to build and he is going to think long and hard about 3 options:
1/72 Revell Privateer, 1/72 Dragon P-61 or 1/48 Revell Harrier.

Cheers, D

I like the Boulton Paul Defiant NF.1 as it was one of my favourites when I was even younger than you are now despite it being a failure.

Great idea. The hobby need as much new members as possible. I will pass it along to my God-son. He is interested in aircraft but I have been sending pictures of my armor builds. He may be interested. If aircraft were included he would definitely participate.
