Armorama and its staff are calling all of the members who are 16 and under on the site to take part in “The Next Generation” campaign. The campaign is only open to members who are 16 or under at the time of signing up to this campaign. Unlike all of the other campaigns that are run here there will be two categories for those willing to participate;
• A Rookie defined by Armorama as a person who is just starting out in this great hobby and have been building for less than a year.
• A Veteran defined by Armorama as a person who has been involved in the hobby for some time.
There is a good reason for this so read on.

To participate you must build from scratch at the start of the campaign a figure, vehicle, or diorama with a ground forces theme and have a completed subject uploaded to the campaign gallery by the time it finishes. You are expected to update the members and the campaign leader of your progress and get feed back from members by posting your progress in the campaign thread as you go.

At the completion of this campaign there will be an unknown at present number of prizes for both categories provided by Armorama and its staff. As there will be prizes at the completion of this campaign a minimum of 30 members must register to take part.

This campaign is strictly for the younger members we have here as a way of encouraging the up and coming future of this hobby and getting them involved. Older members are encouraged to suggest to their youngsters that they register on the site and get involved.

A fantastic initiative, and great to see it revived - Armorama did 1 or 2 or these years ago and they were a great success.

Just a query, more seeking clarify, which I'm not sure if anyone else picked up:




Is that to saw that this is a "scratch building/sculpting" campaign? Or by that do we mean the kit must be built entirely by the entrant?

To build/start from scratch means the project is not to be started at all until the campaign starts. Thank you for the support Tarok.

I will speak with the ninos today and see if I can encourage them to participate.

I really hope it works out Russ but it is very Q at the moment.

I think it would help if we came up with start and end dates. Should the campaign be over time periods where young folk have more leisure time like during the upcoming holidays or over the summer?

Also wondering if we should keep this as an Armorama-only campaign or extend it to be a KitMaker campaign.

I will be working on tweaking the campaign ribbon to look better at the actual 50x20 size. How many young folk have their own separate membership? I don't know if a ribbon has as much impact if it is displayed on their parent's profile.

They could of course take part via your account, or you could assist them when online with their own accounts I suspect they know more about the PC than I do anyway.

hi darren, i would love to take part in this campaign. are there two different campaigns for the veteran and rookie? do you know when this will begin?
it would be nice if it lasted for a year or half a year, because i can mostly only do my models on the weekend or in the half term (holidays)

It will run over a 6 month period and both Rookie and veteran builds have been planed to run in the same thread. The idea behind the campaign is to encourage the next generation of model makers and to show them that we do value them.

hi darren, would i have to state in the thread that i am 'veteran' or 'rookie' before i post my pics. will this definetly happen? i would love it to! just a suggestion for one of the rules: the child who built it should have to have a picture with it, so you definetly know it's them that has done it. don't know if that might be of any interest to you?

Bump. Perfect opportunity to get kids involved. Someone must be a scoutmaster. What about family? Community service hours?

Russ this will hopefully go ahead if we can attract enough interest. In order to get that interest we intend to open this across the KitMaker Network.

how many people do you need to start this off? my older brother will probably be able to do it (he is 15 now and 16 in may if that is a problem?)

As a rule about 50% fail to finish and so we are looking for around 50.

Is there a way to promote this on Facebook or Twitter? My kids ask me every day if the campaign has started. Oh, and Bump. Nephews, nieces, grandkids. Everyone here knows someone who could participate in this campaign.

I would hope that each person who enters had their own account as if a resource like this was available when I was younger I would be a better modeller than I am now. As for each person being pictured with their finished model while I do not have an issue with that I know some will, after all you live in the Uk and know how PC the UK has become and so I would not make it a requirement.

I have not designed a banner as I cannot think of a subject that covers what this campaign is about.

I"ll be giving the kids presents that are suitable for the campaign. Just hope it gets going. As for a banner, what about a take on the "We want you" call, or similar recruiting theme?
