Phil: Great build. The weathering is just the right amount. The only criticism I can offer is that the spare tracks shouldn't stand out from the rest of the kit. Tone down the amount of dirt on them.

Should I lighten the rust colour?

IMHO just a little more contrast, as the rust color blends in with the dirt.

Nice M-10 and Churchill guys.

Here are further progress photos of the Mk III Valentine II.

I am going to add slight chipping and make a base.

Spearhead: Great build. If I may make a minor observation, it doesn't look like your supension lines up with the hull.

Thanks, The supension is movable and I did not check the alignment before I took the pictures. The rear spocket is a problem though, I can straigten the tracks somewhat, which I will do when it goes on the base.

Well I don't have a lot of time to do this, but I'm going to do the DML M4 Normandy Sherman.

I've been working on it and will post some in progress shots tomorrow.

Well I got some photos of the progress thus far, and I apologize for the photo quality. One thing that has always driven me crazy was trying to get paint into all the nooks and crannies on Sherman suspensions. I picked this trick up here on Armorama, and I'm sorry to say I've forgotten who posted the idea. What you do is assemble the boggie units without the road wheels. After everything is dry you cut the shafts that the roadwheels rotate on,leaving a short 'stub Shaft" on each side. that way the road wheels are easily removed and reinstalled for painting.

Thanks Phil, I was worried the first time I did it, but it really works out well. Cheers!

Back from my 4 day vacation and nice to see all the progress.

Sal - thanks & thanks for the tip - I'm going to make a trip to the hobby store sometime this week and try out the MM flat clear and also compare the Vallejo flat clear to dull down the gear

Phil - coming along very nice. I see a glare on your turret gear as well.

Rei - I love the suspension on that. That's the way my dad weathers all his tanks and wheeled vehicles too.

Keith - thanks and great work on the updated details and painting. One suggestion is to paint the jerrycans a lighter or darker green then the tank base color (add black or white to your green). Look forward to more progress on it.

Ralph - good to seeing it near the finish line. Should look at home on a dusty base.

Guy - god speed!

Phil: I'll definitely use that trick on my M36. I should be close to finishing it, by the end of the day. My ab has been out of action, but the parts are supposed to arrive today.

By "trick", I mean the technique you use for the suspension of Allied vehicles. I need a new nozzle and needle for my airbrush. These parts should be arriving, today.

Sorry, it was unclear.

That was me Phil - in the pic the camera flash picks up the (semi)gloss on the tarp/bedroll you have on the turret. The same happened to my M36 (not to be confused with Matt's M36 )

I made the same mistake, Phil. I credited you for Guy's method of painting the wheels and running gear. Sorry Guy.

Here are some in progress shots. The basic build is complete. All I have left are the two PE parts for holding the tow cable. I have never found a good way to do these. Arrrrrg!

For the weld around the back of the turret I used the Vallejo Plastic Putty. Neat stuff! It brushes on and once dry you cand shape and sand it like plastic.

comments welcome.

Guy: clean build. The weld line is just the type of addition that turns a good model into a great model.

Nice build Guy! What kit is that? I was looking for a sherman kit that would catch my eye and that is the one.

Thank you.
