I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea so to speak, but I've always been a fan of "walkers" based on real life armour. This would be a most welcome addition to my shelf

Can you tell us a little about what parts were sourced, and what was built from scratch?

I've seen this thing in person and it absolutely gets the 'Coolest' award.

That thing is just awesome Terry!

This is easily one of the best 'what-if's' I've ever seen. Top to bottom brilliant. I love the fact you've inlcuded a radar, add-on armor and a searchlight, not to mention all the wires around the legs. A really great piece.

Like Jeremy, I would like to know a bit more about the build though.

Thanks for the kind words Jeremy!

Well this thing took me a year to build first off. I'll try to give a run down.
1. The turret is a stock Verlinden 76mm turret with some stuff added
2. The crew is stock Verlinden.
3. All other stock part came from my junk box:
A. Travel lock is from a Dragon M51
B. Sherman parts for various kits
C. Tools are from the AFV Shot Kal kit
D. Search light is from a Verlinden M50 upgrade set
E. Twin 50 Cal's under the machine are from AFV Gun truck
F. The radar mast is made of brass tube, but the the dish is made from a
Panther screen
As you can see all this just left over junk.
4. The hull, chassie, legs, and spaced armor are all scratch made. There is almost 5 feet of brass tube in the chassie and legs. The leg joints I designed on my CAD program and them I made them on my 3D printer. Piping and hoses are made from solder wire and wire insulation.

That's it in a nutshell

and then I made them on my 3D printer.

What kind of printer do you have, why do you have one and where can I get one, assuming it's not an industrial model. Those I know where to get and know I can't afford.

Very good then Terry and thanks for sharing! That is quite impressive especially the engineering of this project. I too am curious about your CAD software and 3D printer. If you don't mind I would like to know which software and printer you are using and what they are like to work with?

Hey Terry, A fantastic job. I love what if's. Your piece shows the importance of imagination. and how important a parts bin is too. Looks great all the way around. Now maybe this year I'll finish my futuristic enginer assult vehical.

Well it's industrial and our little company is still paying for it. One of the bennies of being a partner in a company is that I get to play with it.

The CAD system is ProEngineer and the printer is from 3D Systems.
