I rather save my money for an injection molded M-ATV, also coming from China, roughly half the price of the Varja Miniatures release.

That price is a guestimation only as there has been no actual release date or price notification from VajraMiniature as yet .

Is this version used in Afghanistan or Iraq by US troops? If so it is a must have model.

M-ATV MRAP tilte is incorrect. It is Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) - All Terrain vehicle or M-ATV.
