Just incase anyone thinks I've abandoned this build it couldn't be any further from the truth

I'm just up to my tits with work the past two weeks and havn't had time to update the blog sorry

Saying that I'm getting a few bits done every few days. The entire model has been Primed and has already been airbrushed with the first coat of NATO Green.

I'm spending some time studying the 40mm H&K GMG and I'm having some work done on the wheels, this is going to be really interesting so stay tuned

I have some spare time coming to me during the week so I hope to update the blog with some new pics

That is looking real good Roy! Is the welding on the roll cage really that rough on the real thing?

Ouch! no the welding is done by Ricardo in factory, the same as Landrover WMIKs & is fitted before delivery. The weld marks are just Like any other professional welded frame! My handiwork isn't as accurate

Photos in macro have a tendency to show up all & every crack, bump & wrinkle! Still though, im not gonna make excuses, I have been sanding since the photos were taken & the first coat of NATO Green when dried showed less signs of my handiwork

If the seams are still a bit rough you could try a little Mr. Surfacer (if you have any!) and see how it turns out. Looking forward to seeing the next bunch of photos !

Karl: Thanks man, I'm using some Alclad Primer which is pretty "gritty", its great for cobering up some blemishes!

I've just been airbrushing this morning, while everything is drying I've decided to update the blog!

I orginally airbrushed this NATO green (Tamiya Acyrlics).
Most modern irish armour is in this livery.
However after I took these photos and I studied the real thing I realised the base green isnt NATO, its a sort of Khaki Drab!!

So after I took these photos the Ford went back under the Airbrush, more updates later..

Hey Guys, thanks to all for the kind words and support!

I know I have been a bit slow updating the build blog the last 2 weks, I've just been up to my tits with work!
However I have been doing some work on the Ford, mostly painting and I've kept a record of the process, I wont bore you with all the detail so I'll just update you guys with the latest pictures taken just yesterday.

I had a few hours free today so dived straight into the 40mm Grenade MG build!

The German Produced H&K 40mm Grenade Machine Gun entered service with the Irish Defence Forces around 2007 with the introduction of CRV variant of the Mowag Piranha III.

Here are a few pictures of the weapon in Irish Service;

I built my weapon from scratch using plastic card and brass. The only part not scratchbuilt is the barrel and muzzle which I altered from the Tamiya US version.

Looking very good so far...

Ambitious scratching the machingun/grenade gun, as those seem to be the 'make-or-break' type of details.

One point though (and perhaps you still have to get to it), there is still a small gap/seam where the brass handle attaches to the horizontal rod (and machine gun) - see bottom image. I presume that it is not there on the real thing (probably a weld there?) - and it is one of the noticeable issues; at least, my eye was drawn to it almost immediately.
