Hi all,

Apart from my passion for modeling, I have a strong passion for the Atlantic Wall and the battles that occurred in Normandy. I was wondering if you would like to start a campaign in honor of those fortifications and battles. I was thinking 1/48th -1/35th scale. I would like to start it on the 6th June this year, on the 67th anniversary of D-day. This will be a diorama build.

If you are interested (I hope that you are) please tell me, so that I can start it up.

A few questions/suggestions:

I would consider broadening the scale range to include at least 1/72, and even 1/16 or 1/6.

How many months would this campaign run for?

Are Dioramas/vignettes going to be allowed?

And will we be able to use builds from other campaigns?

One of my actual projects is a german gun-site at the Atlantic-wall using one photo and one drawing as a reference.

To answer your questions:

I thought those scales are too small/large respectively, but I don’t mind broadening the scale range. I was thinking of letting it go on for a year (some people don’t have a lot of time). Dioramas/vignettes are allowed (but at least two soldiers needed). You can use vehicles and soldiers from another campaign.

It will most probably have to have a part of the Atlantic wall fortifications, but you can use any vehicle or soldier.

Count me in tentatively. I haven't found anything yet, so I may end up getting some new stuff to make a artillery emplacement or mg bunker in either 1/72 or 1/35.

I am always interested in a campaign where I can built something German, so I will have to do some research and see what I can come up with I have a few things in mind already

I believe that you need a minimum 10 people committed to join a campaign before you can submit it for approval

So I need three more fellow modelers to join up for me to start it up (or do I not count myself in the 10)? How can I motivate people towards it?

It seems that if you want people to see your proposal that you have to bump the tread so that it stays near the top or on the 1st page. Gives people a better chance to see it

Jeremy I will be constantly on the lookout, Sal may I ask what you mean by “bump the tread so that it stays near the top or on the 1st page”. Thank you both for the advice!

Below are just a few things I have thought about (rules I would like to put suggest), and I would like to hear your points on the rules and the ribbon (do I need someone to do it for me?).

Rules:

1. Must have no less than four figures (no maximum).
2. Must depict a part of the Atlantic Wall (past or present).
3. Any vehicle (that belongs in the area) can be used.
4. A bunker must be present (a large network of trenches is an acceptable replacement)
5. If you are replicating the D-day landings, show part of the German positions.
6. This will be an operation campaign, so do your research.

This is my idea of how the ribbon is going to look like (I know I still can’t start the campaign), it is the same colors as the actual Todt (they were in charge of building the Atlantic Wall) organization medal ribbon, I am thinking of keeping it simple . Please give me your thoughts on this:



I am open to suggestions or questions about the rules and ribbon, so please feel free to share.

Ohh, when I read the rules of this campaign... my planned diorama would not fit into this one.
1. I´m not sure about using figures.
4. Only a part of the gunsite would be visible and is surrounded by wooden walls.
6. I have no exact information about these special gunsites (s 10cm K18) and where they were exactly. (France, Belgium?)

I don’t quite understand your plan, (but I am dropping it to a minimum of one figure, except if you are modeling it in modern times in which case you don’t need any). Do you mean the one on your page:

Soeren: It seems that the emplacement would have been in France. Most of the guns used on the cost in Belgium, Denmark, and Norway where captured guns. The few that were actually German made consisted of the 88’s and a few of the large pieces such as the 150mm c/36 destroyer gun.
I hope this is accurate and I hope it helped!
