Here's a little project that I have been working on over the last few months. It's the Revell Soviet KV1 kit with my own little twist. The tank has been captured by the Germans and they are busy painting it into German colours. The kit comes with both Russian and German marking, so one problem solved there. The figures are MiniArt's German Tank Repair Crew that I'm modifying for the project. The base is the work that has been carried out over the last few days.

Yes, I have. Just realised that I posted the same photo twice, now corrected (lower pic). There is going to be a partially painted German markings on the opposite side of the turret from where the soldier is sitting painting. I'm concentrating on the base for now, want to quite a bit of that done before more work on the tank and figures.

Hi Mauro

No, I haven't seen this site, cheers for the link. It has a picture of the German one in the kit.

This is way cool! You have a nice balance and layout that is visually interesting while remaining overall simple. When can we expect the next update?

Thanks.

In the next few days. Going to try and airbrush the earth colour tonight if I have time. I have just ordered some Greenline grass tufts for the base to try them out. The photos of them look good.

Some more work done over the last couple of days. All of the surfaces, i.e. tracks and soil were airbrushed using various shade from Revell Aquacolor paints. The first layers of scatter have gone down and was left to dry when these were taken last night. I just need to shake off the loose bits now and touch up any bare patches. I have got some Greenline grass tuft and clumps on order, they should be here sometime this week.

The fence needs more work done to it. Has to be battered up a little more, a few chewed up areas and missing runs. Then once painted, glue it in place. I think some animals will add some humour to it. I'm looking at the Tamiya set and the donkey will ideal for what I'm thinking of, a couple of chickens will help too.

More update later.

Mick

Hi Sal

Normally I would have Scratch-built the fence, but I only have some block balsa wood at the minute which was too big for it. These plastic fence section were lying around in my scenics box so I decided to use them. Since the photos were taken, I've chewed them up a bit and given them their first coat of paint. Once finished, they should look okay.

Hi All

A little more work done last night. My grass arrived yesterday so I planted some of it and the fence was chewed up a bit and painted then glued in place. So here are some photos of the base without the tank and figures.

Work has started tonight to modify him by opening the mouth and having him looking upwards.

Just a little update, been a bit busy around the house, etc.

Finished making the figures and the main painting is done on them. I need to finish up some detailing work on them, i.e. dirt, paint spills and grease. I need to get a move on with this project as I would like to have it finished for the MAFVA Show at Duxford in June.

So here's the guys.
