Internet connections are crap up here so short and sweet is order of the day.
Basic body shell as single piece
The lump does not have many parts to it either and like the real thing leaves lots of space around it for maintenance. Not like modern vehicles
Chassis is one piece with addition of the axle and leaf springs front and rear including there prop shafts
Not a lot I can do for now. More to follow after easter break

A small update to show this is still a sort-of-active build....
Major components painted and dry-fitted:
Managed to get the join down the middle of the frame pretty much cleaned up.... looking for photos which show this variant without the hardtop. Seems a shame to hide the inside!
Engine looking just OK. Made the mistake of putting engine, frame, exaust & drive-shafts together before painting. Left it very problematic to detail some parts, but most of it is hidden anyway once assembled.
Thats it for now....

Nige, impressive start mate it is looking good.
Sean, also looking good can't wait to see your progress.
Mark, Glad you like the red top,it is the Hobby boss kit with some decals I found in the spares box I think they are from the old Tamiya chieftain kit? Accurate armour do a decal set that has callsign numbers in various colours so you could get hold of that or just adapt some from another kit?
Just for you Mark here is an update on the red top, I have airbrushed some weathering on it next up will be the glass.
I have also done some more work on the RSOV. I have been trying to get the black dog set but it is out of stock or not available so I have made scratched up some new seats.
I made some rough measurements but I got the dimensions a bit wrong and the first try was a bit big..
So after some surgery the seats were made to the right size.
here thay are in the vehicle.

Terry - cool - I knew you would come up wit something a bit special !
Scott - really nice ! looks great with crew and packed full of gear - I do like the RSOV !
construction nearly complete --
needless to say painting is going to be a bit of a pain - a lot of individual parts - expecially the mapic panels. But glad to get to this point.
something must have gone wrong somewhere - because I had to add some rod (white styrene) into the front frame above the wire cutter - it just was not long enough?
cheers

A lot of detail with those RSOV's.
Having limited myself to the max with my tools and stuff, and not having my usual access to photos, I have kept the Landy almost out of the box so far !!!!!!
Decided to drill out the kit wheel rim holes on all five, but will be looking to swap the over wide wheels and tires for a set of resin wheels and tires molded from the Italeri 109 Landies.
Have thrown a basic primer coat on and sprayed the chassis matt black and the bodywork Humbrol Dark Green 30. Not quite the colour I am looking for on this one, but will try to modify this when I get home with some green shades and weathering.
It is a nice kit with simple part fit and no flash anywhere.
I am thinking of making this a soft top as well and have mocked up in paper and then try various methods to make the tarp.
I have some reference photos at home for the short wheelbase Landrovers and I am toying with giving it a role with the RAF this time, possibly with the Yellow stipes for contrast.

The vehicle has some very complex curves which are proving a tad tricky

Cool !
According to army recognition website, this is a special forces vehicle. Do you think it will serve in Afghanistan ?

Some really nice stuff here guys. Terry, have you considered a white-water rapids diorama? ;-)
Anyway, some slow progress on mine.....
I'm am hereby swearing off acrylic for life...had it all painted and then sprayed a satin clear coat from a rattle-can....the paint in a number of areas blistered even though I'd left it about 3 days before spraying. Damaged the cage doing the repairs...will have to clean up the seam down the middle again. Pretty much done apart from weathering and storage. Started working on gear from a new vendor who'll be coming on the market soon. Had the pleasure of a demo at a recent IPMS Ireland meet and got some of his proto-type generic tarps, tents etc which I'll use some for this and will order the new AK Interactive desert wash & streaks set so going to park it for the moment.

Nice work everyone! I've been very busy lately and didn't have the time progress above some baisic assembly.
But I found something I thought I will share:
some walk-around photos of the V-hull WMIK
http://maquettegarden.free.fr/Vehicules/Land%20Rover%20DPV/files/photo_frames.html?1
And I must say the Accurate Armour conversion looks top notch and I'll be getting it!
